Questions?? Cylinder Modifications for power increase

Has anyone had success in enlarging the intake or exhaust ports to increase the power output. I bought an OS .12TG engine to experiment with. I have a OS .12XZ Power house engine, and I'm going to use it as a guide to modify the intake and exhaust, and possibly increase to air opening on the carb from 5.0 to 6.5 as it is in the 12XZ.

Anyones help would be useful.
Thanks
Matthew

FYI: If you are going to be racing where they enforce Roar/Ifmar rules, your carb opening can't be larger than 5.5mm

Also you dont want to go any bigger than 5.5 because the motor will always wanna run lean and engine temp is increased. When i drilled mine out to 6 to try yes the motor gets a heap more power but they seam to run hotter then usual. Also with opening up the exhaust port wat i do is take out the pistion and put the sleeve back it and mark it to match the outlet on the case witch will increase the flow of exhaust giveing abit more grunt at high revs
