Default What are your thoughts on the HPI R40 Kit?!?!?

Hi everyone, HMMMM! i always wonder... whats sup with the HPI R40 kits?! they look pretty swell to me, but i never even heard a peep bout these kits, are they that bad?! What do u guys all think?!

latest R40 version is year2005 and they've stopped developing it. abit dated and their clutch s**ks.
not a bad car but heavy.

it wasn't bad when it was out, toke some work to get the weight off, and yes the clutch needed work it was just better to swap it out with a better set up. the hara version was a huge improvment. hpi toke haras mods in made it a kit form. it had better balance and lower CG. i'll still take one over a tc3 for club racing. now its a pain to get parts, ebay has alot and theres a few rollers around the trade forum.

Obviously wasnt that bad of a car...Hara won how many races with that chassis?

I have one and I still love it. Yeah, it's a bit dated but still a fun as heck car!

Right on brother!!!! I am working on one too I call it my little tank if things go right it is going to have a light weight fast shifting 3 -speed in it.

Whoa, you are right, no one talks about it anymore, but I still race mine in club races, and I tell you after you get it dialed, that car runs sweet. It is a beast. Yes the clutch took a little bit to set up, but that's what a racer car is, you need to know what you are doing.

Too bad they stopped developing it, it could have been much better.

If you are in NYC, head over to Floyd Bennett Field and Watch the good old r40 kick ass.

...................Thanks for the invite!! But I have seen stock R-40's run before that is why I choose one for a test bed for the mad experiments of Dr. Nitrostein!!!
