Just make sure the difference in the number of teeth on the spur gears and clutch bell are equal.I run 20-26 bell and 54-48 spur 6 tooth split.I also run 21-27 bell and 54-48 spur.

Default 5 tooth split pinions on 6 tooth split spurs

Those last are possible, but meshing is a little more tricky, sometimes is interesting to have a more closed gear ratio.

Used some times 21/26 with 54/48 spurs, found that whas a fine gear ratio for me with foams starting at 63mm on mine local track.

i am guess i am a block head basically what you guys are saying is that if you go up on first gear say one gear do you have to go up on second gear also are there any wierd combos out there that you guys may run or have tried.

Yep... try the one I posted... 21/26 with 54/48 spurs. Worked very fine for me.

Almost a yes only if I understand what you are saying correctly, however, AE does not make spur gears from 48 all the way up to 54 in a 1 tooth increment (but they do for pinion gears from 20 all the way to 27T...go figure)......they only made 4 spur gears, 48,50,52 and 54............because of that, if you are using stock setting 22/26 with 54/50 (I sold my NTC already and I really forgot which one is stock giving gears) you can only go in 4 tooth different's gears.....like your stock 22/26.

No matter what combination you go, they must be in 2, 4 or the most 6 tooth different. Unlike 2 speed gear boxs like Serpent, Mugen or HPI R40, you can mesh any pinion gears with different tooth spur gears.........

But all in all, NTC is best setting in 54/48 spur and 21/27T pinion, that is only for LARGE high traction track........if you are running a smaller track, still, use 54/48 spur but use 20/26T pinion.......I found the NTC3 handle and run much better in 6 tooth different then 4 tooth........lots of low-end torque and crazy top speed once it kicks in the 2nd speed.

Never tried that, but interesting to know that can be done.........AE gears are not the best material on the market but if that works, give it a shot.
