Default Am I due for a conrod replacement?

I have a O.S. 12 TZ 3-port that I've been running on my touring car for four years (That may be a bit misleading; in reality the engine maybe saw two seasons of racing at most). I'd say roughly I put around 4 to 5 gallons through it.

I haven't taken the engine apart recently but it, as far as I can tell, is still running like champ (idles longer than I ever want it to and can hold its own in a race against other high end mills).

I've read that conrods need to be replaced as many as two or three times in an engine's lifetime; that means mine is overdue for a replacement. Should I change mine out, just following that guidline, although my engine still seems to be running right?

Is there a wear indicator, or any way to check for excessive wear?

provided that if your compression is still good, screw out the plug, rotate the flywheel till piston position reach top. when its there, try to move the flywheel again back and forth with little motion.if the piston doesnt move(at top postion) when u apply movement to the flywheel, then its the conrod.

Just take your backing plate off you should be able to see the crankshaft pin move inside the brass bushing of the conrod if it's worn. If not put it back together and fire it up
