Hi,
I was using the stock one. If you use another collet you will have to grind it down a few millimeters. This is the only way you will be able to install the clutch system properly. I guess what is happening now is that when you tighten the end screw, the clutch binds and there is no freeplay at all. (that is what happened on mine before i realized i had the wrong collet on). I guess there is almost a 2 mm difference on both collets i have.

+1 grind it down, that was the only way I could get the the clutch nut to lock. Only took me a few days to figure out the solution after trying a couple diff collets. G4/RS pro street.

Gaah, after a day of racing at Xray challenge at a nearby track yesterday, my G4RS is in need of a major overhaul. There was a removable barrier sticking out just a little at the back straight, which I didn't really notice, and proceeded to hit at full throttle .

I need to do a complete teardown but it looks like the chassis is bent slightly and the carbon upper deck is cracked as well . That alone is almost $100 in parts!!!!

Does anyone know a method of checking for chassis trueness?

There are a few ways you can check for this. 1.You can get a metal ruler or a nice straight edge and place it on the bottom of your chassis eg: front left corner to rear right corner and visa versa. If it's tweaked you will see daylight through the gap on the chassis where it is. 2.You can take your chassis off and place it on a flat surface and if it's tweaked it will rock and not stay flat 3. Or you can dish out the $$$$ for a tweak station. I personally use method one and two cause i can't afford a tweak station

PS: Sorry to hear about your missfortunes

Default As per John Hamon - TraclksideRC

My original aluminium chassis plate on lemans was bent. Spoke to John Hamon about it and in his exp, only way is to put on a heavy anvil and thwap it straight. I also sandwiched the plate under my loaded trailer for a few weeks. no change. So likely to get a new plate on order or get lucky with a big hammer.

PS: That's T6 aluminium... it's going to be very hard

Yep -if it is a G4RS '08, it will always be bent, don't stress about it too much.

Try to get it as straight as you can, we would always back off the rear radio plate screws after every run and re-tweak it.

Always wanted to try the JR / JS chassis - bit stiffer which would be good....

it'll still run great even with a slightly bent chassis, no worries.

the JR/JS chassis is not as narrow and a couple of the mounting holes are different if i did remember correctly.

I'm talking about my 2009.

Well I don't think there's a question that the chassis is bent now. I took the car apart yesterday and it was visible to the naked eye that it was concaved .

I just hope I can get replacement parts before the ROAR regionals this Saturday. If not I can just use my 08 but I much prefer 09 over it.
