Hey Dj, the Xray stock plastic shocks are adjustable, they have 4 holes and you adjust them by turning the bottom of the piston rod and feeling a small click. all the way CW=harder (1hole open) and all the way CCW=softer (4holes open). its very usefull during those 5 minutes break where you can easily change the dampening.

cheers

Ali

Been there done that....

Serpent used to have the same shocks (if I recall correctly those shock where even a Serpent innovation), but went to the RCC shocks with the 720/960...

The Serpent bottles have two oil viscosity ratings on them. The 35W, 40W, 45W etc. are rating numbers indicating the viscosity of the oil, as defined by a set of criteria developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).

The viscosity of a fluid is its resistance to shear or flow, and is a measure of the fluids adhesive/cohesive or frictional properties. kinematic viscosity is measured in centistokes, abreviated "cts".

Thus, the Serpent oil bottles have two numbers, the SAE viscosity rating which is indicative of viscosity properties at a given tempearture and the kinematic viscosity measured in centistokes (cts). The "W" designation on the SAE ratings inidcates that the properties of the oil were measured at low temperature, which I understand is 0 degrees Celsius.

I hope this helps.

I found this useful thread explaining in detail the difference between SAE rating and Centistokes CST. It also provides a comparison of oil viscosity of varios RC manufacturers.

I just read through this thread. I've been wanting to get a Serpent 720 for a couple of years now. I just might pony up and get the 733. Looks like an awesome car.
