To keep it neat I cut the ears off and with a Spektrum mini receiver the MRT actually fits in the receiver box. No problems to date.

I've been running the 720 '08 for some time now and my 733 will arrive tomorrow or the day after.(hope its got the new tank)

My question is related to gearing. I've got enough spares fir my 720 to last a long time, and I saw that there is some parts that I could use on the 733 as well.

What about the spur gears. I saw the 720 09 came out with the WC gears. The rest of the car staid fairly similar relative to the gearing/drive train, if im correct.

Would I then be able to run the 720 spur gear setup(+bell+shoes) on the 733 if I maybe run out of spares one day?

yes you can. The 733 spurs, clutch bell and pinion are exactly the same with the WC type on the 720 09

i dont think the 09 720 came with the WC gears.
but either way , its not a problem to use the LC gears as long as you use the matched pinions to the spurs.
the internal gearing is different from the 720, i didnt really have a problem with it being too short at a track that was high speed. i like the 733, just need some more time to adjust to it. i only got to run it once, but it was pretty much for a week every time it got a bit better, with only small changes. i will find out when i go back to the track i normally run on.

Default Shock oil

All 733 owner,

I just download the stock setup sheet and it shows the shock is 1,000 weight !
Is that a misstake in printing?

it is rated as cst . you are correct it is 1000 (cst) it would be similar to the old serpent 35W oil. i did see a comparison chart somewhere once before, ill see if i can find it. or if anyone else has it, that would be great.

i have used associated 70 W before in a different brand of car. it worked well, and according to that chart, it would rate just over 1000cst.

at the nats, i went old 45W in the tourer, and 50W in the 8th. went from 18.8 to 18.3 in tourer and the 8th felt much more settled. but grip was high.

There are things to consider. Yes the 1,000, seems thick, but since the serpent has different shock design, it is actually not that thick in feel. Also depending on how many holes you use in the pistons makes a big difference. I have helped people build other cars that use a more standard shock. Something like the Mugen or Kyosho. Not sure about the Xray, never build one of the these shocks. I will say that I typically use 1 hole in the front and 2 hole in the rear. To have a similar feel to say 600wt oil in a M or K shock, I would say the serpent oil would be 800wt. The stock kit set-up I think has a standard 3 hole position all around and with 1,000 wt it is actually not that hard/stiff. The biggest reason for the serpent shock having so use a higher oil to get a good feel is there is less volume of oil in the housing and I think the pistons are more rounded on the edges and the others have a very square design to them.

I was testing a spool at the last race. I had the 720 spool modified by a friend. I heard the design for the 733 spool is already done, however I have not seen it, so not really sure. I would hope it would be available soon. Especially for the US racers. I think in really high bite it is a plus. My style of drivers prefers a spool most of the time, so I think I will continue to use it. I like a car that pushes a little going into the turn. At least compared to most of the other drivers I race with. If I hear anything about the new spool I will post it here. In lower bite I think the diff is still better.
