Petey, you don't need to glue it (but you can if it makes your life easy) just make sure when you pull the arm out to pull the hwole assembly togheter and you will always have the arm in the same position

Default Engines for the 733

Hi,

Of the following two engines, which one would you choose, and why? (with regards to price, power/performance, quality, conrod life etc)

-Novarossi Plus 12 3SCT
-RB Products R3

Regards,
Serpent fan

WOW! this is a real tought question. I currently own the 3sct and I love it. It's reliable (typical Novarossi) and has a okay speed. Now on the other hand I have yet to see a stock R3 run however, the modified version by Murnan ... IMO is the closest you will come to a factory team modified motor. The down side to that obviously is the $$$$$. Would I buy it if I could afford it!!!!! HECK yea!

Well i'm really happy with the RB R3 (T9). I only have the RC versions but the regular R3 is used here as well.
The RB RC (or murnan) are the best .12 engines you can buy at the moment if you ask me.
The first time I ran mine and had the clutch set I was drifting out of pretty much every corner, the low end torque is ridiculous. Furthermore they have a really smooth powerband, almost like an electric motor. They are easy to tune and the stock version lasts quite some time, the rc wears out a bit quicker.

If you plan to get a car for the new season then i am sure is going to have the latest stuff. Out turnover of kits is quite good, and we got fresh inventory every 3 weeks in average. So when you decide to buy your car, I am pretty sure you will get the latest

Regarding the one way, I hope I am not creating confusion, but anyway, I will try to explain further. Basically we have 2 types: the one that comes in the kit and an optional one. It’s very easy to see the difference because one has the housing (flange where you install the gear) silver (plain aluminum), the other is orange. The one that comes in the kit has tight fit. You need to use silicon grease in order to lubricate the one way bearing properly. I do it at the beginning of my race weekend and then before the final. I have not had any problem. The Orange one has a loose fit. If you put grease will slip, so you need to use the one way lube to lubricate the bearing

I am not sure how long since you built your last Serpent, but our 966 and 733 goes together very easily
Hehe, I have not built another Serpent in a long while.

So I guess from what I am reading, I should wait till later, say after the March 2010 Carpet Nationals, to get one. By then I am sure the softer and more durable arms will be available in the kits.

Thank you very much for your advice. Do you have any body recommendations that work well with the 733? I will be racing at 301 Raceway, in case you are familiar with that track.

And also, are you recommending I buy the optional bearing? How about the belts?

Okay "Tire Kicker". Would it be easier for you to say ask ALL thes questions once you have decided to get the car?

I wanted to make sure I purchase all of what I need and assemble them in the car before driving the car, something goes wrong because it is weaker quality/dysfunctional, and then waiting a week to get parts and lose track time because of the wait. That is all.

I want to make sure I assemble the car correctly the first time. Not build it, and keep tearing it down because something goes wrong or is recommended to upgrade it because of harsher driving conditions, etc.
