Oakland County (MI) considering RC race track

A few weeks ago I spoke with the Oakland County Parks and Recreation (a metro detroit county) regarding their "master plans" for their parks. Being a resident of Oakland County myself I thought I'd review this as a potential opportunity for permanent RC tracks. I was connected with their planning director and they are planning on reviewing options for having a RC track incorporated in their master plan. Other folks out there on RC tech I really could use information on other parks systems in the country (and others) that have provided support for building RC tracks for their residents. Also perhaps by going through this process here it could help others accomplish the same thing in other parts of the country.

I do stress that this is by no means a sure thing, this just means they are considering it. This is what I received today:

I am sorry that I fell off the map…but I haven’t forgotten about the Radio Control Car Race Track idea.

I have accessed your website and downloaded your ppt of the race track concept. It looks great. I have asked my staff to put together a recreational opportunity brief on Radio Controlled Cars in order to begin to see how it fits with the mission of our organization.

I will be sending a copy of a draft brief for your review and comment.

As we go continue with the Master Planning of our parks we will evaluate the practicality of a RCCC track and make proposals for public comment. If approved as part of a master plan a business plan for cost recovery would also be developed. Again, as we move forward you input would be very much appreciated.

I will be sharing your contact information with my staff who may be contacting you via e-mail for more information on your sport, your organization and current/past levels of interest.

Thank you very much for your patience and willingness to consider working with Oakland County Parks. Have a great day.

If you are an Oakland county resident, I highly suggest you stay tuned so you may have the opportunity to give your input on the 'public comment' when that time comes.
