Thanks for answering my question Alex. It explains a lot! Considering he had a broken car, I think he still did very well.

This story is posted on RedRC.net:

Capricorn RC report from IFMAR Pre Worlds
http://www.redrc.net/2010/03/caprico...ar-pre-worlds/

"The main final was started with drama as Chris and Ralph got tangled up just after the horn, while going into the sweeper. Both cars ended up on their hoods. Ralph flamed out and when he got back on track was behind by 2 laps. Chris also flamed out in the first lap incident and then wound up having battery trouble not allowing him to recover."

I've been watching the video ever since it came out, watched it again after I read the above and it looks to me like Chris got underway again after the turn marshal turned over his car. Based on his time for lap 2, it is clear that he had a problem. Chris is able to do 18 laps before the car is pulled off the track, but he does rejoin the race 33 laps later and finishes the race with 173 laps!

And I'm not quite sure what to make of this:

"Ralph Burch also used Capricorn parts on his Xray NT1 later in the week to help him drop his lap times into the 16’s. Ralph used the Capricorn Hard Light tires, the 60g barillium engine mount, composite diff gears, Capricorn clutch, Xceed Chevy body and also the Capricorn brake disc."

Doesn't Ralph still drive for Xray??

Yes Ralph still races Xray, he just used some of our products... Ralph has always been a friend of mine since I was 13 and I'm always down to help him out, he wanted to try some of our capricorn products and we were more then happy to have another good driver test them out and give us feed back...
Now on another note I just wanted to thank everyone at the track for a nice fun week of racing... And also just a brief run down of what happen to me in the final... At the start I had a crash with Ralph due to a very very bad starting spot in the dirty part of the track... It was very random for me to have a start like that. But after the test start I knew it wasnt going to be good. Anyway it happened, wish we had a clean race and saw a good one... And so also for some weird reason my battery stopped working at the first stop, was weird, I used that bat all week with no problems... Oh well that for sure won't happen again! See you all at the worlds...

Thanks for pointing out that the track was dirty Chris. I think it would have been sufficient grounds to hold off the start until the track was cleaned - but I'm not sure how that's addressed in the rules. I assuming the race director has the final say.

It wasn't until I had to watch the start again - with thor's comment above in the back of my mind, that I paid much attention to the fact that #4 starts at the back of the field. What are the World's rules for showing up late for the start flag? Is the person penalized a lap? Also, you can't choose be placed at the back, right?

I wonder why all your comments have to be negative. If you don't like what people post, don't read it. Simple as that.

I actually enjoy all the points Rainer brings to the table, some I agree some I disagree, but still being brought out.

As far as the start goes you can see that the tq spot on the track sucks so for the worlds they should move all the spots back one
