Default rb or novarossi

I am looking to put a new engine in my car. I have always ran with a novarossi but people are also telling me that rb's are good, so my question is what will be the better engine as far as accelaration and over all speed, the novarossi NRS12s5 or the RB Concept 1700-000510?

Just my 2 cents. I've read Motorman posted in the early days of the NS12 and V12 what he thought about the engines. He mentioned that he needed to do a lot of "work" on the V12 to get it up to par with the stock out of the box NS12. I would not know how to conclude or if you could make the same conclusions now. Perhaps the V12 has already changed. Hope Motorman can shed some light into this or if the stock V12 has already changed.

p/s: A new forum was created specially to discuss nitro engine questions. You could best use that forum to post your engine questions.

I own a NTC3 and when i was searching for a new motor, i watches this guy with a V12 in his g4 rip up a parking lot and i honestly wasnt really impressed with the low and mid range. I then witnessed a G4 with a Novarossi NS12 S5 in it and WOW i was amazed.. anyway the moral of the story is that i now have a NS12 S5 in my TC3

If you want to compare a NS12 S5 to a RB, than you need to pick the V12 5 port, not the 3 port.

The Novarossi NS12 is pretty much the fastest box stock engine you can get...then again there is the S5. I forgot the whole name for it. Either way, the NS12 alone screams compared to anything else. I've seen some for a price of $245. The RB V12 is supposed to have an improvement over an RB X12. According to their site, power output is the same but since it has the upgrades the V12 is priced a lot higher. I can buy a X12 5 port turbo for the price of a V12.

That X12 5 Port is just awesome. What I found strange is when the other guys ran their yoks, even theirs were a lot faster than mine, the kids only "awwwwwed" when mine ran. Anyway I'm looking for a new engine for my Neo. Wish I had the $$ to dish out for something really good. I could probably bag a Sirio .12, and that just leaves a starter box and manifold. I'll use the 2400NICD packs I got for now.

First both engines are excellent, cant go wrong! but just they are getting too expensive!

I guess my question is can you wait another 2 months or so? the reason I am asking is from a very reliable source, Odonnell is going to come out his own lable engine for much less then Nova or Rb engines, and the p/s set will be like 1/2 of what Nova is selling their 5 port p/s set!

Yeah that Odonnell is claimed to be as fast as the Novarossi NS12 but cost much less. I'm planning on buying a nice RB engine or probably a Novarossi for my NEO TNT. Something with a standard crank so it can fit the centax. One of my friends who's a racer says the RBs are a little finicky with tuning. I dunno, could be his location or something as the last few RBs Ive seen running were pretty good with tuning. Since the area I'm gonna be racing on at my HS isnt that large I figured an RB C12 slide carb non p/s will do. If they dont have that, I'll step it up a bit...maybe even look at the X12 or something just as powerful.
