Default 2009 Great Lakes Challenge "GLC" presented by Shepherd Micro Racing

The anticipated Great Lakes Challenge (aka the GLC) entry forms are now ready for racers to sign up. The 11th annual GLC is cheaper than last year by $5, now only $40! Pre-registration deadline is July 7th. After July 7th, if there are openings still remaining, we will allow racers to sign up for a second class. Prior to the deadline racers can only register for one class.

The dates are July 29 thru Aug 2. Wednesday and Thursday are open practice days (will break up into a controlled practice once attendance picks up). Friday we will have practice in the morning and then 2 rounds of qualifying. 3 more rounds of qualifying on Saturday. Main events are set for Sunday (we may run a couple lower mains Saturday evening depending on time constraints).

The One Eighth Racers of Toledo will be playing host and have had numerous successful events at the famed Woodville Mall track. For information about the club as well as local accommodations, visit their new website, www.racersoftoledo.com.

The One Eighth Racers of Toledo would like to thank Shepherd Micro Racing as this years presenting sponsor. The GLC also has support with major sponsorship provided by, RC Car Magazine, Kyosho, Futaba, Byron’s Fuel, and Novarossi.

The GLC is well known for its great display of raffle items. This year we have raffle prizes donated by the following sponsors:

Ira,

You can fly into Toledo or Detroit. Detroit to the track is approx. 50 miles, Toledo airport is about 9 miles or so.

The airport codes are TOL or DTW.

Hope to see you there.

Wink

The Great Lakes Challenge is looking to sell out like the Nationals.

What a great way to practice and get to know the Toledo track for the Nationals by entering the GLC. Come join us for lots of track time and racing through the weekend.

Stay out of the sun in our newly extended permanent race canopies for seating of up to 100 racers.

Toledo One Eighth Racers, the originators of the famous high bite track surface now copied by other great tracks in the U.S.

Come join us from July29 through August 2 for the 11th annual GLC.

Taking entries now!!

Ira,

Well you can fly into Toledo or Detroit. You may get cheaper rates going into Detroit since its a larger airport. If you fly into Detroit, I am about 10 minutes south of the airport (on the way to Toledo). Maybe we could meet up and have a couple drinks.....

Did you send in your GLC entry yet? If so, I have not received it in the mail yet.

Take care,
Brian

Thanks Brian,
My entry is going in the mail today, I hope there is still room. I will look you up when I arrive and give you a call, I did not know if I was going to make it with the move going on.

Ira

What's wrong with driving 12 hours?

Ira,

Yeah there is still room. Now that the Nats are filled up I expect more people would want to come to the GLC for Nats practice. I will be posting a list in the next day with the few new entries I received in the mail in the last day or two.

Take care and see you soon!

Default 2009 GLC Entry Deadline

I just wanted to remind everyone to get their entries in before the July 7 deadline to avoid the $20 late fee. The 2009 GLC has one of the cheapest entry fees of any of the major races this summer, only $40!!!

Not sure, I will check with Bill and get back with you. I would think the day before the first day of practice...
