Hi Guys

Is there a simple test to determine which liquid is nitro and which liquid is methanol?

Yes yes.. I left my fuel ingredients over the holidays without any labels on them and now I cannot identify which is which.

I know there is the smell test, nitro has a more potent smell but if you do not have a tuned nose, is there any other way to determine which liquid is which?

NItro has a specific gravity of 1.13, methanol has a specific gravity of .79

Weigh an equal sized sample of each, the heavier sample is the nitro.

Nitro usually has a slight yellow tint to it. Methanol is clear.

Ha ha I know right! I'm waiting for someone to say methonal will only burn off your eyebrows and nitro will remove every hair on your head when you accidently drop your cigarette into a half gallon.

Thanks for all the help, really appreciate it. I was hoping that someone didn;t reply saying exactly that.. take some nitro, place on your eyebrows then light..
