Hey im trying to get my gears off the clutch bell and they won't budge. As far as I can see they are not held on by anything at all. How is this done??? Im working on it as I type this so a quick response is important. Thanks

It's a pinion gear tool. Different companies make it but I think it might be brand specific because of the size and pitch of the gears.

get the tool, anything else might damage the gears or bell. If you bend the bell, it will bind on the shoe .

I used channel locks and a rag to hold on the second gear ( the inner pinion) than use another set to loosen the first pinion. After I got the first pinion loose the other one came off by hand. As far as thread lock, I have raced the MTX4R every weekend last season and I only hand tighten the pinions on and use no thread lock. I personally have not had any problems doing it this way with aluminum or steel pinions. Hope this helps

Thanks 720 channel locks and a set of pliers got it off. Im setting up the front suspension right now the im throwing in the motor with new gears and will not lock tite them. That was a pain. What do you think of new gears? Old 20/27 New 22/29????????? Think I can get 5 or 6 mph on top or what?
