I think the Picco P3 is priced around $195, this engine has received good reviews indicating good power throughout the rev range.

Thanks!

Anyone else??

What about the Axial .28?

gpm-parts.com 04-14-2009 08:38 PM

How about a STS D28pro 5 ports.

Nothing in that price range will touch the Picco 28.... probably nothing under 300 will touch it either.

STS made some screaming engines, but their quality has taken a huge hit and parts support is next to nothing. The Axial spec 1 engines are probably the weakest of the 28s available. Their 28 RR is a little better, but it is still a Kingstar. The LRP 28 or one of its twins, the Nsram 28 or SH 28, is fairly powerful, nice to run, easy to break in and tune. Glen

I have an LRP .28 Spec 3 in my DM-1 and love it. It has tons of power and a pretty decent top end as well. The cost for an LRP is $165 tough to beat for the price. My buddy run a Picco .28 in his and my car seems to have more top end.

If the Picco is tuned and piped properly it will easily beat the Spec 3 on top end... However not everybody has their engines setup correctly so anything can happen........

I don't know about EASILY beating the LRP but I do agree on a tune makes a world of difference. What are you basing the information on?
This link has interesting info on dyno of alot of engines http://hpisavageforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1419

Piccos make the most power for the buck by far. :nod:

guambomb 04-15-2009 10:55 AM

i sport a LRP! :nod: and a Collari .32 :tire::tire:

bad_b4 04-15-2009 10:59 AM

i have a vspec and a p3-28...the picco kills the vspec in mileage and power by far....both have 7mm restrictor and both are on JP3 pipe and header, same gearing.

the vspec was $300 and the p3-28 was FREE....LOL

but seriously i love my p3-28 and will be buying another one real soon as this one has over 8 gallons on it(and still has the same pinch as the day i got it)

there is a good youtube video of a DM1 with a LRP 28. Looks like it moves pretty good. thats the next engine im getting after my force 28 takes a dump.
