Default Ordering Overseas

Hey, I'm looking at ordering a G4 from jethobby.com. The prices are excellent in US dollars. My question is, has anyone done this before? are there any problems? Thanks

I don't know about your country, but here in Peru (South America)
almost everything we have to order overseas, and we have to pay custom duties over the cost + freight value. We have no problem of lost or never arriving things, and usually from USA or Europe it takes about 4 to 7 days to arrive.
I would check with your custom agency and see how much duties you would pay over the cost of what you're buying. Seems to me you'll be better off buying locally. Check and compare.

wow that is a Good price but beware shipping is going to run atleast US$20 probably more like 30 and anything that comes into the country with a declared value exceeding $200 is subject to Customs import fees even if the shipper declares less Customs can open and inspect it and if they decide its over $200 they will put a hold on it and you will have to pay the fees because the shipper already has his Money. If it is held you also pay warehouse storage fees.... I work for an international freight courier and my wife for a customs brokerage so we see this happen alot.I have no Idea what import fees would be though you'll have to contact customs on that.Ultimatly you are the importer and therefore bear the burden of all applicable fees. I'm sure the price is that Low because it has not had US import fees applied to the final cost of the product.Thats why they cost so much more here.Ultimate hobbies Has the best US price I've seen for the G4 and I have delt with them before.I'd just Hate to see anyone get zapped by customs when trying to Build a New Car. Good Luck!

If you order from HK all the supplyers will put any value on the package so you dont get hammered for import tax.

Tell them to put $50.00 value on the package

But What I am saying is that if for some reason US Customs inspects the package and declares a Higher value you will get screwed.Probably better then 99% chance it will make it thru but They Throw Hold Stickers on stuff and it doesn't go anywhere till its cleared thru a broker and all duties and warehouse fees are paid. You asked about overseas purchase and I'm just letting you know what I know about possible downfalls.I buy from Hong Kong and singapore without any problem but in smaller $$$ amounts. Its Kinna like doing 75mph in a posted 65 zone you get away with it all the time but one day Trooper is gonna tax you. Enough of my 2 cents....

Thanks for all the info. I got a email from jethobbies that said it would be 280 total w/ shipping and btw this kit is a eclass with foams and a protoform body. If i could order it from there, it would be around $85 savings (a lot). Thanks, and has anyone ever done this before firsthand???
