Where does everyone go for 1/8 racing in SoCal? Who gets the best turnout?

Why would they issue an Evolva 2007 upgrade ... and now suddenly a complete new M3 ... is the 2007 kit not working?

The 2007 was, as you stated, an upgrade with parts to make the car better. It is also the current Roar National Champion car. It seems to work pretty well. The M3 is a new car that has been in development for some time now. The Worlds is a normal time to debut new cars. This should not be a surprise.

So in 11 years of racing I've never tried out 1/8 on-road. I'm planning on picking up an Evolva tomorrow that has been sitting on a shelf built but never run for a year or so now. Should I get the '07 update parts or just run the thing? Any other stuff I might want to pick up?

Randy - just run the thing to get the hang of it. It'll be a blast to drive right out of the box.

I wouldn't expect the M3 to be out until after Winternats (at least in the States), but who knows.

What does the '07 upgrade stuff do for the tuning/handling of the car?

If the car you are getting is an 03 car just update to the 05 bulkheads (to gain the ability to adjust belt tension) if it's an 05 car just run it - the 07 rear lower arms are more fragile.

The 07 upgrade mainly makes you be able to get the rear end (as most of the parts are for the rear end) to turn more but be able to be more stable/planted at the same time. The big downside is the lower rear a-arm, it doesn't take much for the pivot balls to be pushed in on them.

At this point I agree with Rick Davis opinion. Just run the 05 car until a) you can't better your times or b) you can't get parts for it anymore, or c) you want to upgrade to the Evolva M3 (when you're ready).
