O.S. .12 CV to CV-X conversion ?

I bought an OS recoil pull start assembly to convert my OS .12 CV to a CV-X.

Now before I plung in ripping it apart, I'm wondering what else do I need ?

Does the crankshaft need to be replaced ?

Thank's

Thank's, I just noticed that the crank for the pull start version is different and has and extra stub extruding from it to hook up to the pull start assembly.

Default O.S. .12 CV to CV-X conversion ?

Canuck;

Converting a NON-pullstart to a Pullstart Engine requires at least 4 Major parts added.

1) The Pullstart mechanisim. ($20-$30 usd)

2) A New Pullstart backplate for the Engine. ($10+)

3) The Crankshaft has a special extention on the crankpin to engage the coupling shaft. ($35-50+)

4) Coupling shaft. This has a notch to engage the crankpin and goes through the backplate bushing to the pullstarter mech. ($???)

5) One-way Bearing for the starter, as most do not come with one if purchaced seperately. ($8-$15)

You could probably have bought a complete Starter Box, for the coast of adding a pullstarter.

you will need a--- one way bearing, and peice that goes on crank for the one way bearing to fit on and you will need another crank that has the little peg on it for the crank peice to fit to...you will need another backplate also...and then of course the pullstart assy... ..oh and 4 screws for the pullstart assy..that should do it

Thank's for the info guys ! Ya, I know I should get me a starter box and I will eventually. I just have all these parts kicking around doing nothing and I want to put a pull start together.

Nice to hear from you Popsracer ! Always appreciate your advice...

I do have the following parts already:

1) The Pullstart mechanism.
2) A New Pullstart backplate for the Engine.
4) Coupling shaft.
5) One-way Bearing for the starter

The only thing missing is the crankshaft with the special extention on the crankpin to engage the coupling shaft.

I understand that this is not the same crankshaft as a CV-RX. I need to find me the following crankshaft part number:
21202000

So if anyone has a spare in new or excellent condition , let me know !

Does anyone use any special type of sealant on the backplate ?

Don't forget...you'll also need pullstart engine mounts and a pullstart flywheel. Both are slightly larger then the non p/s variants.
