Just a hunch.. somebody did told me before if he had spent as much time here as he did on his car he would have been a better driver...

oh well......... :D

Hey Motorman, I snapped the crank on my RTO in front of the counter weight. Any idea why it happened?
Yes I know its the 710 thread, but since he's here I wanted to ask.:D

Yes, with a one way, more rear downstop as Julius says would make the rear break less under braking. It limits the weight from transfering to the front. This may be good on huge tracks but on smaller ones, you may probably need more turn in or more weight transfered to the front. So that would say that you need to strike a balance.

Interesting! So in principle although more droop makes breaking more stable, on a small track you have to use less to ensure that there is enough weight transfer to allow for better turn-in.

Not to blow my trumpet or anything but seriously, I used to work a lot on the car with setup and all. Learned a lot too. But now, I don't even need to check the settings. I just clean the car (unlike somebody who uses Photoshop filters ! ) from weekend to weekend racing with little maitenance here and there. The settings still stay true after a few hard races.

Don't know who you could be refering to, there! :D

Fuel tank

Ummm, perhaps but with the G4, almost everybody has the fuel pickup problem. I don't know how Josh Cyrul solves his but a lot of guys change their tanks to a different one and the fuel problem miraculously went away... Sounds like another NTC3 tank problem to me !
yes we did hat a problem with the tank but this is solved already this was only in the first production serie the tank is now great ;)

the new gears should be more efficient and another advantage
is that you can make finer adjustments on gearing for example
jumping 1pinion larger on the new gears will be less than
if you were to change 1pinion larger on the older gears.

Will the new car have ackerman options?

From what I understand, yes. This is one of the advantages of going to a bellcrank steering setup.

Ammmmmmmmmmmmmmdrew........whats up man? Well, I am glad to get back to the Serpent CAMP and looking forward to ask you (and others like Initial D) a lot of question about the 710, however, I am sure I don't need your Hand Made Impact Foams like 4 years ago.............

I wish I can fly to Florida and join you guys and learn.....4 years of training and I am sure I am up to the National (well, make it to C-D main is pretty good for me)...but wife and daughter probably won't let me do that unless I leave them all my credit cards to my wife, which is NOT the best scene to see at all.....but never say never, if I cannot race, I can still fly there to WATCH and say Hi to you guys.

Glad to join the snake camp again..........

by the time the car is released 1/3 by Dmaster:lol:

No there is only one ackerman position. We tried different positions and felt the difference was too small to make different options. On the 950 for example the team drivers hardly ever change the ackerman.

Julius, thanks for correcting me. Don't ever make assumptions I guess...

Parts list and exploded views

On Mytsn they told me that a parts list would be available by November 26. :)

Bearing sizes

Julius, while you are on-line, can you confirm the sizes of bearings in the 710?

lawndoggie 11-21-2003 09:23 AM

I would also like to know doggie bones' length

lawndoggie 11-21-2003 09:43 AM

hmmm
Julius, You mentioned on your article that 705 felt like a piece of shit when it wasn't set correctly, and that the sweetspot was small.... so why did serpent release the car? You mentioned that the 710 was tested by many people of different driving level. Well, did 705 go through the same kind of testing? If so, did those less experienced drivers complain about how difficult to get a good set up? If so, what did serpent do to fix the problem? And was the problem fixed before the 705 was released?

I understand that the low inertia new centax III was designed before the release of 705, so why wasn't it included in the 705?

On your article, you also mentioned that the improvement over the impluse on the 705 was the FC and new tank design. Well I can see the tank as standard.. but why is the FC NOT standard?

The bottom line is, WHY releasing the 705 when serpent could simply release conversion/hop up parts? Also when a new/better design was clearly on its way!?
Would serpent release a car with mediocre parts/design when they knew they clearly had something better in the bag?
