Do I need to back it with something when I'm done, so the nitro doesn't eat the paint?

Congratulations for the TQ!

Like most folks here will tell you, 3 Racing product quality is questionable, especially the metallic ones.

Unfortunately I've got a 3 Racing titanium front shaft, I'm going to swallow my pride and install it. The carbon stuff looks good though.

Backing any paintjob on a nitro car is not only good but if the backing is white then it enhances the appearance of your original paint job too.

I think my friend who did our body shell with faskolor (airbrush) must send the shell from inside so they could stick and shine better.

Yeah, I know.
I usually use enamels, and I don't have to worry about the fuel eating the paint.
This is going to be the first time I paint with Faskolor.
I know Faskolor is a water based acrylic paint, and I was wondering if I needed to spray something to keep the fuel from eating through.

Did you mean "sand" the shell from the inside?

I usually just back mine with a coat of Tamiya Polycarbonate Paint (White). Careful though, mixing acrylics with laquer can lead to quite unpredictable results...make sure the acylics are thoroughly dried before coating laquer over them...but best is to use Faskoat for backing...

Thanks Crashed.
Have you used Alclad chrome?
If I want to use Alclad chrome, should I paint all my other colors first, then spray the chrome last?

PSI,
With Alclad chrome the best way is to use it is last if possible. If you spray it thin on the body it will “lift” with your masking tape or whatever you use to mask. The best way to apply Alclad Chrome is multiple layers (5-6) enough when its NOT transparent anymore…..more layers the better the shin!! After applying the chrome back it with “water base” black (Fasblack)……. do not back it with any type of lacquer it will dull the chrome. Back the chrome with a water based acrylic paint very well so when you back the whole body with Polycarbonate Paint it won’t “eat” through and all you need is a light coat over the whole body.

Happy Painting
