What clutch settings did you end up with eventually, it'd be interesting to compare what you had with mine.

Cheers, Mark.

Parts:
Yellow clutch shoe
1.8mm pre-tension spring.
Black clutch shoe cut up as the flyweights

Settings:
0.5mm clutch gap
0.2mm endplay
2.1mm pre-tension

Rene did all the tuning of the pre-tension by observing how my car performed - he can see and hear when it is correct. He does the same in tuning the engine.

I really can't say how to do this, I wouldn't be able to do it myself anywhere near as good as Rene and I couldn't really observe Rene doing the work, as I was on the driver stand.

Cheers, Mark.

So you took a standard black clutch and cut it into 3rd's? Do you lay the pieces between the pegs? Is the 2.1mm pre-tension measured from the face of the nut (holding the spring) and the end of the clutch nut (holding the flywheel on)? Was the clutch real aggressive... snappy? Can you send your new "pit monkey" over to Ft. Meyers this weekend for my state race?:D

Thanks, jag

would you be so kind and measure your carburator settings from Kirchenberg race in turns from closed ?

PLEASE ;) ;) ;)

Well, it certainly seems that the LSN is run rich comparatively to the HSN. My settings are

4.5 Turns out on the HSN and 5.5 Turns out on the LSN.

Cheers, Mark.

Here's a pic - it can explain it better than I can in words

I measure from the end of the flywheel retaining nut to the top of pre-tension nut with calipers in this manner:

The clutch was nice, it wasn't too agressive - probably you'd need to use a bigger clutch gap and/or grubscrews in the flyweights to achieve this.

My pit monkey is Sow&Steady - are you sure you want him or are you after the services of the one true Pit Prophet?? http://www.3hobby.net/images/blocks/...wistedevil.gif

Looks like it is the same available engine on shop shelves to me:) I would love to see one able to even start the engine at HSN 5.5 - LSN 2:sneaky: ... no throttle apply:D

Do you mean that when you get a new engine, the factory settings are the same as those I have now?

I do not remember actually, but not as far as HSN5.5 LSN2. More like HSN4.5 LSN4.. Must check again on the upcoming shipment late this month.

I've used it in two National races without problems. Especially in this last one where a lot of folks in the upper 40.9xx were having inteference issues.

Speed is faster than what my hands can do. :D

And no thoughts of sending it for a software upgrade?

Do you have two receivers? :sneaky:

Mark is truely a master. Anyone notice how he held the pinion and caliper but was still able to take the picture.

Initial...the only ring you'll have now is the one around the collar :)
