Had a great time racing/testing today with Sam and Nigel. Learned a lot about the set-up and the affects of different changes. Lap-times are getting more and more consistant. Thanks again Sam and Nigel

i have almost built my 966 and i must say quality-wise it is the worst Serpent i have ever built.
Axles not fitting perfectly like they should. I had to drill larger holes in plastic, etc etc.

Not something i am used to !!

Just my 2 cents.

Greetz.

When I built my 966 the axles had a tight fit but not to the point that it needed to be filed down. no drilling needed in my recent build

I guess i had a kit that was made on monday, lol.

I solved everything myself with a little work, so i hope it drives well.

Greetings,

Christoph

You are not alone.
I just finished my son's 966, the first ever Serpent in my household.

As a long time Mugen driver I was totally shocked by the amount of work, it took to get this car together.

- Front sway bar did not slide together, had to be ground to fit
- Front arm hingepins did not go through without reaming
- Pressure bearing in clutch missing
- Steel rolls in 2-speed missing
- 1 wrong rear upright (OS1 instead of OS2)

I am sure I missed some stuff.

I hope the car will run better than it went together.

the way i remem ber it, was serpents required alot of massaging to get them right, at least the old school cars...vector etc.havent heard anything on new cars yet tho..untill now that is!!/..lol..stil kick ass cars tho..always were and im sure they still are, it was explained to me a awhile back, that its much better to lightlly 800 grit sand parts for your custom fit, and than they wear in, than get parts with little or no slop,,but need to be changed more often because of this,, u know r.c bud...its all about COMPROMISE,,,unless u buy a XRAY of course...LOOL

I even opened a shock and the plastic ring with 3 holes was simply missing !
Lucky i had some from my old 960 '08.

Definetly not alone, mine had missing middle pulley holder ( but an additional middle shaft ? ) Missing rear anti roll bar bearings, missing front axle shims, split in the plastic on one of the front antiroll bar holders, some missing screws for the radio plate, missing 1 pillow ball for rear upper arm to upright. Front antiroll bar needed grinding to fit the ball in the socket and a lot of additional work on freeing suspension pins etc.

Default My Build

I recieved my kit last week; and so far, it has went together flawlessly. I did some minor polishing and reaming, but nothing unexpected. The only challenge I've had so far is pressing the inserts in the rear carbon fiber for the upper arm pin. Their longer than the carbon fiber is wide. I don't want to take pliers and bugger up the insert... so I'm trying to find a outward press type tool for the job. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Those things are tight!

A friend and I just ust a soft material that was hollowed out a little and put over the hole and used a hammer and lightly tapped it through
