If your friend blew his motor it wasn't because of the WD-40.

Wd40 is not good for engines...machinists and locksmiths use it because it makes a great cutting oil...makes you wonder what is does to your engine.

Everyone has a friend, or a friend of a friend, or somebody who has destroyed just about EVERY component in every RC car becasue of something seemingly harmless. I find that its best to only speak of experiences you yourself have actually had. So that way you know all the facts about it. He may be a friend, but you can't follow him home and see what he's doing to his engine there.

I ran a OFNA .15 engine for years using WD-40 as my only afterrun lube. And the thing still has excellent compression. Now I use Hobbico's after run oil. Which as I understand it is the same as every other 'red colored' after run oil.

But like someone said before, if blew a rod or whatever in his engine, he needed more than wd-40 to do it!

WD-40 attacks the surface of metal, so that they can dissolve the rust on surface of metal.

WD 40 is used because it's great at inhibiting rust and keeping water from sitting on the metal...

On the wd-40 issue. What happens is if you put wd40 in a motor it will repell the moisture in the air. The only place for the moisture to go is to the bottom of the case. Wd40 does not prevent corrosion and the rod corroded when he started the engine up the rod gave in and snapped. This is why i would not reccomend wd40 in a nitro engine.
