I'd stay away from that model, because its one that is very outdated. That was my first nitro RC car about 9 years ago. I'd suggest if your starting new to the onroad nitro scene, get yourself a Team Magic G4JR (Ready to Run). It is a very economical car which can be upgradable to a full Team Magic G4+ EVO. Plus it has the advantage of being a ready to run, so no more equipment is needed in order to run it except fuel. After you have gotten the taste of onroad, and you are ready to make the complete leap, you can go ahead and upgrade your Team Magic car or just get a competitive kit like Serpent 720, Kyosho RRR, Xray NT1 or the Mugen MTX-4R.

Now, answering your question about cc's... I believe that what we call a .12 engine is really a 2.1cc engine...

Hope this answers your question,

-SHU

Even today many people are enjoing the Kyosho Alpha. There is a wide support and on ebay you can find many used cars and new upgrades but the engine is not that good.

The Fazer is the current model which has replaced the Alpha series. A good car to start with but if you want more it is better to go with the FW05 or the new FW06.

I got the Kyosho FW06 mainly due to the great parts availability at my local hobby shop.
