Nitro Go-Kart

Fairly new to RC and need some advice/help from the regulars. This Go-Kart is to be released soon.

http://www.zerorc.com/carson-model-s...st-rtr-go-kart

Has anybody had experience with this maker and has anyone heard of this Nitro Kart coming out? Looks appealing just because of the weird factor. Concerned about tires/spares, etc.

Getting close to picking one up. A-main hobbies states they will be released in December. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I would.t get that! for the 1/4 scale a .12 engine is super small, my 1/10 jato has a .20 in it, doesn't look like it would handel either, plus if you get into rc you probly wont be able to race it anywhere, idk what the price is but it looks expensive and its only onroad, i would get an electric if just getting into rc.
If you dont want electric get a traxxas nitro sport or nitro rustler. there on/off road and you have tons of parts and hop ups.

Eric here...

I used to be in to karting, so I was interested to see this one. I saw it at the iHobby show. It was interesting, and yes...it looks like a kart, but I was not impressed with the overall quality. I'm pretty sure the is the same one...

It could be a cool display model, but I can't imagine any real parts support for actual running.

Just my $.02

Is already 8 months old....

But:

(there is even a movie)

Carson is a well known brand mostly for the low budget drivers. Their cars are OK using Force engines. Parts shouldn't be a problem but for 7 months I am waiting for new shocks and driveshafts for my Mr Fu 1/18 truck.....

fo-sho thats not a 1/4 scale it wouldnt be able to fit on a table next to the radio like that its probably 1/10-1/12 scale, in the pic it does look cheap though

I remember this from a while ago, Roelof, your correct. Watch the video of the cart in action. It seems slow in the video. I would say that if you had a new racer in the family, it would be a great way to get them to get the idea of throttle control.

It says 1/4(.5?) size which means is 1/4 of a cart. Not a car or truck. If it were 1/10 of a cart, it would be smaller than that. It does look like it is about the same size as a 1/10 car though but wider.

It's 1/4.5 scale of a go-kart not a car, so yes, that is the proper size. You are correct in the fact that it does look cheap. I wouldn't spend the $$$ for it.

Thanks for your quick replies. I stated that I'm new to R/C. That is not really true. Had one of the 1st nitro outboard hydros many, many years ago. Then got back into R/C 2 years ago with a 1/5 scale Nitro Motorcycle, next an 1/8 Scale Kyosho Inferno GT for "spec" racing then finally a 1/16 scale buggy, all nitro.

They were all RTR, so I learned how they worked by crashing and rebuilding. Still feel like a newbie. Don't have the fundamental knowledge you would acquire by building a kit.

I'm from the midwest and our local track has an outdoor dirt track, an indoor dirt track and a beautiful On-road track. It is "LeisureHoursRaceway.com" for a plug. Only time I get out to there is on Saturdays for "practice" time. This Kart would be for my own enjoyment. Only would be entered in the local races at our HobbyTown. Yes, the quality looks suspect, but I can afford $250 for a RTR. Would love to experiment with it by substituting other motors eventually. Thanks for your help and $0.2 cents. Plus, thanks for that video link. They looked to be taking it easy. Hell, my Nitro Bike with a .12 would scream past that on a straight.

remember a go kart i smaller than a car to 1/5 of a go kart it about a 1/10 scale.:lol::lol: its a little confusing but just look at the pics how big is the radio next to the car? it is not that much smaller so it has to be close to a 1/10 scale or even smaller.

GO KART

We just got the mrc go kart and it looks pretty good . rubber tires are real soft for good traction but weather is too cold to try it so i cant give any other input right now . if it can stand up t a crash it might be a class to race at small smooth tracks .
