Maybe I'm going about this the wrong way, so I pose this question.

do we have any go cart racers in the crowd who competitively race shifter carts?? and if so have you heard of a fuel product called stealth.

I will get to the piont after we get a few responses.

Why? Simple. I live in a competitive environment, there are plenty of people out there making and selling tires. If I want my customer to buy and continue to buy my tires, I need to sell them the best tires I am capable of producing. Nobody selects racing tires based on cost (with the exception of club races maybe) My only way to compete is to sell tires that give my customer a percieved (or real) advantage on the track. Why would I keep my best tires to a select few and sell yesterdays tire technology to the guys that will select primary on performance. I think if I did that, my potential customers would soon find alternative suppliers.

Just my 2 cents.
I was talking more on a worlds champs level.Did you see A.Rossi offering his team engines to every tom, dick and harry?

When you have the prestige and everything that goes with that in winning the major titles, you can be sure that the major companies in engines, tyres or whatever will have there "extra tenths of a second" products for the teams/drivers that they wish to support.

Are these the ones that use orange coloured wheels? - they look a bit like Serpent rims?

dennis if you are talking about the GQ tires
they are available here in so cal so you could
ask kenny to pick some up for you. the rubber
foam material feels alot different from grp based
tyres such as fast tyres. tire construction is nice
i just wished it came in plain white. i guess
if you were to compare it to sedan tires it would
feel like the yokomo rubber more than any thing

I heard karlton spindle had some, but whats the deal is he importing them or just buying them from an overseas source. Nobody has them back east.

I don't know if he's a distributor or just getting them
overseas but he's the only source for those tires that
i know of. 1/8 wheel is orange and sedan wheels are black
i think brad liked them when he tried them.

ive only tried the 1/8 tire.

Is he the 1/5th scale guy that has been running around so to speak on 100 different forums advertising them?

I would expect manufacturers of "race-level" RC tires to try out their new stuff at big races. I sure don't want them releasing anything new to the public UNTIL it's been race tested. I don't think the mfg's keep a 'secret stash' of tires held back for their team drivers, at least of the types that are available to the public .. the only stuff held back would be because it's still in the R&D phase in order to protect their edge in getting them mass produced and to the buyers.

Ever since auto manufacturers discovered that "Win on Sunday, Sell 'em on Monday" was more than a proverb, that's how good racing products get out to us ... AFTER they've been tested in a race environment (and not just on their home track).

"... as I understand it drivers would go in the trailer and emerge with tires of an unknown source." Sounds like a good R&D system at work to me!

Karlton is selling them quite frequently on Ebay, $11 for sedan tires, I don't know the price for the 8th scale tires.

Here at KZ Carlton sell GQ tires ( if I am not wrong) Black rims on 1/10 scale and orange on 1/8 scale-pretty good tires from my understanding, but I am not real expert on them. Everybody on KZ use only that tires. The prce is about $11.50. call Carlton, I am sure he will be happy to send you or drop me PM I will arrange you too, no problem.

I think that manufacturers keep the closest mached tires for the team drivers. I doubt that the tire shores that you and I buy at the LHS are matched as closely as possible, in other words, if you buy 45s, you might get 1 that is 43 and the other one 46.

Thanks,

Black rims for 1/10? Over here, the 1/10 scale rims for touring cars are also orange.
