Filter Oil

Is there a cheaper alternative to hobby shop (expensive) filter oil? I have heard of Marvels Mystery Oil, but that is not available in Australia.

Thanks

Sami

Go to a motorbike shop the has dirt bikes. Just get some filter oil for the foam sock type filters. I got a litre bottle for $13.

I use Marvel Mystery oil, but I have heard you can also use a good transmission fluid.

a lot of fuild do the job including nitro fuel. but make sure to remove excessive fuild from running around the foam filter with tissue paper. excessive fluid will carry dirts into the engine.

In a pinch, I just use after-run oil. Works just fine.

If not, I usually have some oil on hand, because it's only like 3 bucks here.

After-run oil or your fuel is all you need.

I would invest in some more tacky oil if you can. The fuel and afterrun oil does work no doubt, but the stuff for dirtbikes is ULTRA tacky and ensures maximum protection.

Get some "castrol dirtbike foam air filter oil" from your local auto parts store.I've had mine for years and it's not even half empty. It costs around $15 and is really tacky and not very restrictive,at least that's what they say on the bottle !!!
