I see; however, I wouldn't be so hasty as to say that Josh's car was the "latest Kyosho prototype". That's like saying his heavily modified TC3 is the latest prototype from Associated.

I've never seen such a setup on any other Team Kyosho driver's car and I've seen dozens of pictures of Bertin's car at various stages of development.

Has anyone seen a laid down throttle servo on anyone else's Fantom besides Cyrul's? The reason I ask is that Cyrul used to drive for Trinity and so he drove the G4. I would not be surprised if he just took the idea from that car and fabricated a similar setup for his 1/8th scale.

I'm fairly certain that what Collari, Bertin, and others were driving was the latest Kysoho car. It no longer looks like a prototype compared to earlier photos, but rather a kit ready to start selling...

I have yet to see a photo of Cyrul's Fantom [with the body off] from the Worlds. I know a lot were taken the final day of qualifying when his TQ winning car was on display, so they're out there somewhere.

Josh Cyrul confirmed in the thread that was opened regarding his departure from Trinity that the Kyosho he drove was a first run Production Car... He mentioned that it might be available here in the States either late October/November.

It was entered as a "Fantom", but mentioned that Kyosho has yet to officially name the car.

The last photo on the Image Server (that said it was Josh's car) really is also of Collari's car. I fixed the heading.

The earlier photos of Josh's car will be back early next week, as soon as I learn how to add that directory to the Deneba Image Server software. I don't want to do it now, as if I goof, it will remain broken for the weekend.

Regarding Josh's car, it's not stock - Josh had lots of special parts on it that he created for the car. Again, photos will be back soon, but not before early next week.

Photos of Saturday's Quarter Finals and Semi-Finals are now posted.

I understand, that's why I said I have not yet seen any pictures of his car, from the Worlds, with the body off. He was talking about the car used at the Worlds as being a first-run production car, not the car in the photo used in the 950R comparison thread--that was a different race (Great Lakes Challenge) and probably a different car.

I'm just saying that from what I saw at the Worlds all the Kyosho cars there looked the same (as Collari's) and production ready.

Hopefully Josh can fill us in on the details when he gets back.

Thanks Mike, I was going to mention this to you on Sgrid. It still says it's Josh's car on myTSN as well, is that fixable?

There's another caption on myTSN saying that Surikarn's father is looking at his car in the pits. I don't see his father in the photo, but rather the Team Kawahara members that were helping him.

This is why I'm thinking the throttle servo idea was Josh's and not Kyosho's, he's known to heavily modify his cars and try new things out. I don't know, but I have not seen that anywhere else on a Fantom.

Did you happen to get any shots of Josh's [bodiless] car during the Worlds?

Great reporting as usual, BTW!

It will be called the F2003 when it's released. I didn't receive any specific release dates.

Ummm, I don't know if the naming is little appropriate. Lets see... End of 2003 is looming near and closing in already. Couldn't they have named it F2004 instead?

Ummm, so it's safe to say that the laid down throttle servo thingy is not Kyosho's since Collari's car did not have this?

I'm thinking they're tentatively going with F2003 because that's the year in which they won the WC.

The laid down throttle servo wasn't used on any of the cars. I too saw the same picture from a previous race, but all Kyosho cars at the IFMAR race were using a conventional throttle servo mounting position.

Mike Swauger is American. The guy who was running around and tuning everyone's modified Serpent/NovaMega engines is the current German Champion--Karl-Heinz Meister, aka KHM [modifieds]. The 2003 German Championship has not happened yet...

Thanks for the clarification...

That makes sense...

Thanks for the clarification. Is the new Kyosho car in the WC a final car or are they expecting some changes onto it with the laid down servo thingy etc when it comes out?

I guess anything can happen between now and the time the car is released, but I suspect the production version will be nearly identical, if not exactly the same. It TQ'ed and won the Worlds. I wouldn't want to be the guy that decided to mess with a winning combo.

The car that you have seen of Josh's with the lay down throttle servo is not the same one as the worlds car. Josh used G4 parts and made a new radio plate to allow for the lay down throttle servo and other minor changes.

The car he raced at the worlds is definetly the production car as I have been to his house this week and gotten all the info.

Thanks for the info Steve. I surfed at the Electic forum (of all places information of his Kyosho Fantom) and found a posting from Josh Cyrul confirming the following;

This new kit should be avaliable in late October or early November. I think Kyosho is going to re-name the car but they weren't sure what to call it yet.....
