Default KO2173/74 gear compatibility?

Howdy folks,

anybody knows whether the only difference between these two powerhouses is the gears or not? I bought a 73 thinking it was the highs-peed version, whereas it's the high-torque... can I just change the gear set?

Thanks a lot,
Paul

Ummm, isn't 2173 the high speed analogue version? I know that the 2174 is definitely high torque (12 kg).

Anyway, the 2173 and 2174 gears are different. I know because I bought them before. The 2173 gears are the same as 2143 (digital version). Don't know if the gears are compatible with the newer 2343 (latest programmable digital servo). Likewise, the 2174 gears are the same as the 2144. Same goes for the casing.

You're sure right. It's the gear that makes the difference. The motor, the chips, etc. are the same thing. This also applies to the PDS 2143/2144.

best,
