Hi SpeedyDave.

Is that what you do? take off the adheasive?

by just swapping the crystal, does it hinder the performance? (according the manual, it indicated the rx needs to be retuned)

tks.

I don't have a 3PK, I have a 3PJ, which I bought from a friend, who had taken the sticker off. Everyone does that, it's just technically illegal. It shouldn't hurt performance at all, but maybe I should let someone who actually owns a 3PK comment...

You can change the crystal....the new reiceivers can have any crystal in them..

the transmitter should stay within 4 freq's up and down...

And yes I have a 3 pk,3pj,3pjs super.....

One thing..if you have the new HRS recievers..make sure you use the new short crystal in them......

Hope this info helps you..(more than the other comedians)..

Harry, what's the deal with the short crystals anyway? I want genuine Futaba stuff, but all of my crystals are the old style(for R113F's). Guess I'll have to buy a bunch of new receiver crystals.

beats me...All my freinds are using the old ones, and they work fine..we thought they were taling about a shorter physical sixe..biut they are close..

I called one of my freinds at Futaba..

according to him,the internal make up of the crsytal is different...

I kind of got the idea that maybe it would work, but he couldn't say at what range it all of a sudden would not...

that was all I needed to hear...I ordered all the short crystals....

I think he also said that the short crystals would NOT work at all in the old FM recievers..

The cover over the 75 mhz crystal is just an American thing (not being racisit here OK!). I read from somewhere that 75 mhz runs pretty close to some other allocated frequencies use for something else, so it is supposed to be illegal to modified.

To me it sounds like a marketing ploy because I have never had any problems changing 75 crystals when I was running that freq and neither does quite a few other people on the board here it seems!

I have run the old style futaba crystals in my HRS recv's with no problems. so far anyway.

did it the whole time i was at the hpi challenge and i ran in 5 classes - both elec. and nitro. that was for a total of 20 heats plus practice and no problems.
