Default Running without exhaust/muffler

hey fellas,

was wondering whether there'll be any harm to the engine if I don't run exhaust/muffler on my 1/10 nitro touring rc ?
The sound it emits without the muffler is insane.

The only advantage is having a big noisemaker!!!
The engine will be slower than it would be with a tuned exhaust system and it will quickly overheat.

thanks for the quick replies.

Can you guys define how the motor will be damaged ?
Besides the heat, plus the motor didn't seem to be hotter than usual.

when i first started racing back in 1972 we ran megafones on our engines with no problems to the engines the main disadvantage that we encountered was the ringing in your ears for about 2 days after a weekend race yeah they are loud and your hearing will be affected what we ran at that time were veco 19 engines that don't perform anything like the new engines so my recomendation would be to run a tuned pipe for your own good and also to keep neighbors and the police happier as someone is bound to complain about the noise

Extremely low timed motors such as the old sport motors and cheap airplane motors would run fine without a pipe, in fact they would sometimes go faster if the pipe got knocked off. Modern racing motors have much longer port durations and they rely on the tuned exhaust to run properly. Without it they will not run very well at all.
