Anyone know what the engine above is shimmed for, i assume 25-30%, i will be using 16% fuel, so how many shimms should i retain.

thanks

What is your question. All .12 engines come pre-set for 16% when they are new. If you are at sea level you can run .30 16% which is one of the thick aluminum shims. If you run more nitro you need more shims. Most people use 25%-30% hee in the USA so we generally run .50 shims..... That is a guess seeing how you gave me no info on the engine it self...

unfortunately not ALL .12's comes shimmed to run 16% fuel, as far as know, some .12's are shimmed to run 25-30% fuel, and when you use 16% fuel on these engines, you just dont get the performance out the engine.

i have a JLR.12, which come preshimmed for 25-30% fuel. sam from team kamakazie helped me out with regards to what shimms to retain on that engine, but i know want to run my Maxpower .12 MF.

so heres my question again, is the Max Power MF .12 shimmed for 30% fuel, if so, how many shims do i retain or remove to run 16% fuel.

its comes preset for 16-20% with a .3mm shim, depending on your altitude & weather you should be good to go.

usually nova-based engines are shimmed for 16-20%...while picco-based are shimmed for 25-30%.

thats cool, so im ready to use this engine as is, awesome, cant wait to fire it up, any suggestions on what pipe suits this engine, we run a short technical track, not many open strights, so the skyline pipe with the JLR.12 work well, but can i use the same skyline pipe on my maxpower, what do you guys suggest.

Skyline VR 12 plus, should be fine, but the MAX 2602 will be the best, just like the JL engine you got, skyline works but the PICCO 2607 is way better.

For short tracks you'll have more than enough power with just about any pipe set. The nova 2630 with the long conical header would be best for short tracks, but the 2602 would be better on regularly sized circuits.

His question is about .12 MF.. Why would you even talk about JLR.. Those are Piccos and are totally different.

the reference to picco was just made to show that picco's are generally shimmed for 25-30% nitro use and nova based engines are normally shimmed for 16% nitro use

anyways, ive got my answer, so thanks all for the help, appreciate it.

Only the JL's are shimmed for 30%, most Picco based engines are shimmed for 16% just like the Nova Rossi .12 engines.

sam, one more question, would the mega 2607 pipe be better than the skyline pipe on the Maxpower .12 MF?

No, 2607 will not work with the Max .12 engine, skyline will be better.
