What I do is pre-thread them with the same size screw beforehand.
Then when you are going to screw them on, grip the shaftat the end of the threads with wirecutters so as not to damage the shaft.
You can also grip the shaft with 'softjaws' :
ie: pliers with aluminum pieces between the shaft and pliers
the aluminum wont mar the shaft

thanks for the info gearhead. i had a pack of hobbico foam rubber pad laying around. i cut a small square of that to hold the shock shaft with. it worked kind of like a jar gripper.

Hey guys, I have a question about tuned pipe and manifold sets. I will be getting an O.S. 12 TZ 3 port but I need a tuned pipe for it. I am leaning towards the O.S. 1040 since it is designed for the .12 engines that they make, but I need a manifold for it. I believe it is side exhaust and I'm just not sure which ones will fit and which ones won't. What are some of you guys running? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Hi there, I have recently purchased a 18 size engine with a SG shaft for one of my NTC3's. I was thinking of putting this 18 engine into the car just to bash around on the street, however I was just wondering does anyone believe I should not be putting a 18 engine into a nitro tc3.

So, my question is. Has anyone put a 18 engine into their NTC3? If so how did it go?

Thanks, hope to get some replies soon so I can put the engine in.

Hi I have just started racing a basic Side Exhaust Team NTC3 again and there is a lot of slop in the steering. Most of it seems to be in the rack, my question is what's the best way to remove it. I see K-Factory do a rack but is it a good upgrade or is there an easy fix ? Also what would be the best option parts to put on the car. I know this has probably been asked but I don't know where to find it. Lastly is there any good setup info on the NTC3 I am running on a fairly bumpy med low traction surface with foam tyres. 40 shore work best and rubber also work well but are hard to get them to stay glued on the rims..
Thanks Dan

yes you can put a .18 in a ntc3. If you do you wont be able to race with it but it is great to bash with if you like speed. most people who run .18's run the O.S. 18tz. You might want to keep diff rebuild kits and gears on handy though, as you also need to do that with a racing .12.

If you are going for upgrade parts, Start with associated threaded shocks, and pick up the spring pack. Do the "fix" which you can find info about it in the search. A centax clutch is also a very nice upgrade if you will be racing. As far as setup sheets, go on team associated's website and you can find different setup sheets for different track condition.s

just thought I would post something I discovered recently about this car - we all know that the car is rear left side heavy, so I added some weight to the car to "balance it better" - my car is a ntc3 rtr + with a mars-r reciever and a nosram pack and I added a mere 60 grams to the car to shift the balance point toward the center (both forward and to the right) - oh my what a difference! TRY IT!
