the lightweight 2nd speed housing was discontinued due to lack of a significant improvement over the standard one. Also because they had problems withthe manufacturing of some of the light ones so it was just easier to let it go because it doesn't do that much for shedding weight. this comes from Cliff Lett himself.

Acutally The lightweight stuff makes a big difference... not if you just use one... then you wont notice much of a difference, but with all three there is actually a good deal of improvement... much better acceleration... and the lightweight clutch housing seems to result in slightly smoother shifting...

The housing was discontinued because when manufacturing it, when they would drill the holes out to lighten the housing sometimes if would leave behind small burrs... these would chew up clutch shoes... So they discontinued it... I still use them on both my cars... just take your finger and run it on the inside of the housing where all the cut outs are... if you feel any use a dremel and smooth it out...

exactly import. the burr thing is right on the money. but he also didn't feel it was enough of an improvement to stock both items... he admitted it was a money call to discontinue it.

P.S. What else would you like to know about the GT?

i don't see AE making an 1/8 on-road car. they are so expensive and require so much R&D to make one. plus how many 1/8 on-road cars would they sell compared to the ntc3 etc...

1/10 235mm is becoming less and less popular from what i've seen. most people run 1/8 or 1/10 sedans.

I use all 3 lightened clutch parts and I also made a Titanium driveshaft. These 4 items and a heavy Hardcore racing brake hub makes a huge difference in acceleration. You would'nt think the extra rotating mass of the alum brake hub would help , but it does, it helps maintain rpm. Theres a limit to lightening it all up, once you go to far your just hurting yourself.

MY driveshaft was hand made by a friend of mine. We used surgical Titanium rod used for spinal replacement. Hey! It was free! How much would you guys pay for Ti shafts?? I think Titanium Racing has the Ti driveshafts. I have a new chassis design, new upper deck with mounting for suspending a mugen style tank, and Ti driveshafts. I have been thinking about selling a few in a kit form.
The chassis is very sweet, not like nothing on the market at present. Fuel delivery and vibration problems are gone! OH! Damn I forgot, there is no fuel or vibration problems. LOL

FastHarry> I have tried all the Assoc. clutches & combinations, and have been hesitant about trying the others because of their cost and a friend had the Kawahara and said it was no better...

I race on a budget, I don't buy just everything for the car. I'm stoked about the change in the way the car reacts...the MIP clutch will fix the problem with the car. I was having.

I'm still not so sure about the changed gears...I have stripped the ones I got...I'm ordering them again, and will spend a little more time adjusting that backlash.
