NTC3NUT > I'm guessing he wanted to reduce ackerman just a little bit, but wouldn't it too risky to do it when you race for an hour? I'm curious how he made it last for an hour. Was it just a ball end and nut or glued it?
Let us know after you tried it how it differs from stock position.

I'm sure he was using the factory bumper. I don't think you'll find too much aftermarket stuff on a factory drivers ride.

The mod does reduce ackerman; I did the mod on my car after I saw that, and it doesn't look like it will affect durability too much, they're still very stout parts. I think the mod was probably done gain a little better turn-in. At high speeds less ackerman is needed, because the radius of the inside and outside tires is nearly identical, too much ackerman effect and the outside slip angle is not high enough and the inside slip angle is too high = less than ideal grip. My car started turning in better with reduced toe-out up front which is a change in the same direction as reduced ackerman, so I figured the next step would be to go to less ackerman (most of the other competition sedans use the single servo setup and less ackerman as well). One thing about the spacers for the rack mod is that it would probably reduce maximum steer angle because the ball cup from the tie rod will hit the steer post sooner.

Rifleman, If you take a close look at the pictures I believe you'll see 27/21 pinions, and 48/54 spurs on all the cars. Associated has Pavidis' set-up sheet posted on their site now.

I am talking to a Machinist in my neigborhood who is going to get me a price quote on M3.5 X .6 Left Handed nuts for the Rear Link mod. If you are interested e-mail me at [email protected] and I will keep you informed on how much it will cost. I think I may have to buy 500 nuts or something like that. We will see.

Let me know.

Wooow, 6 tooth jump... No wonder they need the makers of the engine to be there to tune their engines right...

That's pretty much the only gears you will see used at Cincy.

I use 21/27-54/48, or 20/26-54/48. Always a 6 tooth split though.

I believe they are saying one is on the way. That's not really a reason to wait though. IMHO the car needs nothing but foam tires to race. I used to think the sway bars were a must-have, but lately I have been having better setups by using the ~$5 buds sway bar up front, or none at all. It will be interesting to see what they throw in though, like if you get all the gears, the carbon upper deck, titanium PBs, etc. All the lightweight stuff really doesn't do anything for you though because the car is right at the Min weight out of the box.

Default One way

Can someone point me in the direction of where I can find more info on one-ways? I see you guys talking about them all the time and it sounds like they are beneficial. What I would like to know is what is the purpose of a one-way and is it only used for a car that is running foam tires? Does anyone have a picture of what a one-way looks like?
