Default What made you buy and LD3 Versus Others???

Just want to hear from some LD3 Pro owners and why you bought this kit versus say the Mugen or the NTC3. I am sure price was a major consideration....so let's get that one out of the way right away.....

What were the others?

I don't have the pro; but as for the rtr version i think what got me sold on the ld3 was the way the car was lust set up compaired to the others. I saw it as a nice car to do some touring in & also easy to work on++++. Wish i got the pro but my skills were in the basement at the time. Last but not least how can I forget the price. I viewed it as if i got the tc3 i would have to spend more money to get the 2speed to put in the car. Didn't like the mugen much IMO. But the ld3 comes with every thing you would need to get started, then when your cash flow allows it you upgrade thats all.

I wanted a shaft drive car, the NTC3 was a contender but then I found it was not metric, a major pain for me. Some months later I seen the LD3, found a heaps cheaper source (HK) then locally and that made it a deal I could not pass up

I really think I landed on my feet with the selection. Quality is great and parts are super cheap (eg upper/lower front AND rear pro arms for $6.50)

If the Kyosho FW05 was around when I purchased I would of gave it a serious look. It does not come with CVA's (Pro has front and rear) no exhaust etc so it ends up costing quite a bit more money, and from what I've seen its weaker then the LD3 (unless the FW05 boys I know just crash more hehehe) but I do like the 0.8 gears on the FW05.

I bought the ld3 rtr as my first onroad sedan based on features and price. It came down to the ld3 or the ntc3 and I went with the ld3 and don't regret it at all. I liked the rtr so I went out and bought the pro version shortly after. I wanted shaft car instead of belt because I am running in unprepared parking lots most of the time.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys. I am torn between the Mugen and LD3. I think it's going to come down to whether or not I am going to spend a HEAP of money on a new car or not.

My LHS supports both cars so that should not be an issue.

Thanks again!

Go with what you want and what your wallet will say. I'm sure if you ask a good number of people at your track, they will say MTX3 without thinking twice about the LD3 just because of the Mugen name.

I got the LD3 because, well, you simply couldn't beat the value, and I seen and heard too many reliabiity problems with the NTC3. The car is very strong, parts are easier to come by (now) and it performs quite well (at least on a medium to large track. I still find the gearing a bit suspect on a short track). I haven't been dissapointed yet.

Default New car kit at OFNA listed

OFNA is now listing a CD3 PRO and CD3 RTR coming soon.
Is this a LD3, but improved?

On another note, the build of my LD3 PRO is coming along nicely!
Instructions are not that great, but usable.
Should be able to fire it up this weekend for testing.

Will back to work (now the fun part? building shocks).

CD3 has layout like FW05
plus is normal exhausts (better exhauts?) can be used, not as limited...

Nightmare, I see you finally went to the 5 tooth spread. That's what I've been running for a while. Although I still think 1st gear is a bit tall, you won't get passed by time 2nd kicks in. Trust me, it makes a difference

5 tooth has gone, shes now 0.8 system But I set 1st to be same ratio, I left 2nd stock (taller then 5tooth spread ratio) so might have to play with that

The new clutch should go pretty good, have not ran it yet so will see how she goes today (club meeting, last one of the season)
