Stock Nitro TC3 .12 Engine Question

I have a Nitro TC3 RTR, with a 2 speed, that I got from a guy at my LHS. From what I can tell, he barely ran it after break in before selling it to me.

Anywho, my question is this: Whenever I run it, after it runs out of fuel the engine doesn't want to start untill it cools back down to about 100 degrees fahrenheit. A friend of mine who's been into nitro for allot longer than me tells me that some engines like to be left alone to cool for a while before they'll fire up again.

Any ideas? I plan on running this engine untill (A) I come into some money or (B) it dies.

Can be a number of things:

1. Do you crack the throttle a bit more when starting? Helps hot starts.
2. How hot is the engine peaking at? An overheated carb or crank will make restarting hard.
3. Could just be a really bad tune on the motor. Sometimes when your low end is way off it is hard to start but will stay running once going.

1. Yeah, I have the JR XR2 radio, so i up the throttle when im starting.

2. The engine peaks at about 240, which should be just fine.

3. The low-end needle may be off, but not by far. The engine was running today while it was about 85 degrees out, and usually its 65 when I run, which would account for the bad tune.

Thanks for your reply, I'm just makin' sure the engine is fine.

I had an inkling that it could be the LSN, since it doesn't like to idle for very long [less than 30 seconds] without dying once I hit the throttle again.

Everything which you describe sounds like it should be fine. If it got hotter all of a sudden your engine will go rich which may account for the problem.

I would just lean off the LSN little by little until it starts OK. Remember that these things change tune as they heat up, so the tune hot is different to the cold tune.
