U'll only need the Mugen clutch bell or 5 star lighten clutch bell(if available in your area). But you may wanna try out if the Mugen pinon can fit the kyosho clutch bell..

i notice that the rear of the fw has the same tendances as the v-one series...i reckon its because of two reasons..
1:- being the same person who designed the v-one series designed this car.
2:- they wanted to use up as much of the old tooling as they could, without being too aware that the v-one rear DOES not work...i have to modify my rear end to get it to work as i like ( i have been running the v-one series since the first v-one-r)...Simon Cammeleri and i have been trying to get the car to work...its about 90%....Simon now runs the mugen(sponsored) as he gave up with the kyosho...........
now the question is.................why release a NEW car that does not work as well as it should....i mean kyosho has a fantastic 1/8 scale, but their 1/10 tourers are not up to it....i do love the kyosho as it is very strong and we cant all run Mugens...

they also used a front rigid axl in that race.

I can't understand the need for the Mugen ( i have to wash my hands now I've typed the "M" word) rear uprights when the FW05 comes with an optional lower mounting bracket to further adjust the roll center..

mikecatts , send me a PM, I want you to try my set up!\

Luis

Hi

I have just ordered the 22t, 28T and 29T 0.8 module gears plus the mugen clutch bell housing. I havent got all the parts yet but will be trying to fit them when they arrive.

I got the 22t first gear and it screws onto the kyosho clutch bell but has a shoulder on. I think I will have to grind it down.

The gear mesh is not the same as the original kyosho gear mesh and so I think it will wear the spur gears a lot.

I will post pics as soon as I get it done.

I also have ordered the MTX-3 rear end conversion for the FW-05. When I get that Ill post pics of what needs to be addressed to get it to work propoerly. I had just ordered the rear hubs but need the pivot balls, axles and the bearings as well

Cheers

Luis

1. Adjust your roll centre as high as possible (Rear link at the most angle)

2. Adjust the droop to max

3. Take off the rear roll bar

4. Take off the shocks and roll the rear of the car over to the left as far as you can so the right wheel is just about to leave the ground

5. Now check the left wheel and you will see the wheel is either just upright or leaning slightly left (out)

This is because the camber change is not enough as the link angle is at max.

Try this with the MTX-3 and you will see the left wheel lean in about 4 degrees to give very good rear cornering and power on grip.

Solution..... Change rear hubs to MTX-3

Nah, they are Manti's cars I believe.
At least he's the one I stole the pic's from.

As I said to Mike, I haven't done the Mugen mod but others have. They seem to think it improves the camber gain in cornering as you would expect. The main reason I didn't try it, apart from laziness, was that the Mugen also has a much shorter top link and I suspect that just doing the hubs etc. is only half the job. Maybe it's better than nothing, though.
