Hey Rich

Which Pipe are putting on your FW? Does someone make one with a spring coupler? Does that car come with a one way and a solid rear axle? Just trying to find out as much as I can before I get one of these cars.

I haven't decided. I have a ton of pipes that fit on the left-side of a nitro car but none of them will work on the right-side without some modifications to the pressure fitting location.

I have an AE 1/0th pipe laying around that doesn't have a pressure fitting installed so I am going to try that.

I also just ordered this pipe from RCsquare.com:

MTP-205S JPL exhaust pipe for FW-05R/S US$39.00

If the picture is correct, it comes with the manifold, sping, and gasket. So, I figured for $39 it was worth the try. If the pipe didn't work out, at least I got a manifold out of it.

I am going to run a MT-12 for local racing, but I haven't decided what I am going to run at Nats.

Rich, if it's not too late, I'd strongly recommend that you get the Kyosho pipe and manifold instead. No top end problem whatsoever even with stock gears.

Default Rear Exhaust for FW-05R

Found this on a Taiwanese RC web site. It is NOT a pipe I'd recommend but sure looks cool.

It's going to be in June. I will call you then. Are you finally going to race your car?

Get a pipe with the shortest manifold. I tried the RD logics and it was way to long and restricted the high revs.

I use the kyosho one now

Cheers

I havent been there since you left. I still need to setup my car correctly without it traction rolling on race day or the day before the race when there are lots of nitro on the track.

What rubber tyres and inserts are best on the FW?

I know most guys run foams but a lot of guys in the UK run rubbers

Cheers

I haven't run rubber tires on a FW car, but you can't go wrong with the Takeoff's CS-series tires and Sorex tires.

I like the Takeoff's over the Sorex -- they wear longer.

Also, you can get the Takeoffs preassembled and they come with great inserts (medium compound).

If you get the Sorex tires, they seem to work best with HPI red or green (these are a little firmer than the red inserts) inserts.

Both offer great traction and I've run both on my nitro cars the last 2 years. This will be the first year I run foam tires on my nitro car.
