NovaMax? I believe your friend cyba888 has one on his car...

The OS12TR is much of a bottom end engine too and lacking top end. So you'll end up with the same problem...

i meant max power. i dont think the os can come close to the novas, unless it is a tight techie track. i guess, i'll need to try a max power engine and see if there is that much of a diff. thanks guys for the info regarding the fdr, so at least i dont have to swap spurs to figure out my problem

Duh!

His car is very fast. But I have yet to run against him again since I had the engine tuned properly...

Is it so difficult to change the spurs? At least that beats the hell out of buying a new engine ! Cheaper too from what I recall.

Anyway, the fastest gearing on the FW05R with the 39T is with 21/27 pinions and 51/45 spurs.

well, of course not, but if it states that the 2nd gear ratio is 5.0 being the lowest, it just shows you that it won't get any faster on the top end dept...
also another question....the pinions are 0.8m but the spurs are 1.0m....? coz i've seen vonerr evo, and their spurs look true 0.8, unlike the 05r's

One last thing, what fuel are you using vs. the Max guy? That could make a difference too.

Are the kyosho ones that much better? the engine seems to be revving and super strong on out of the corners, but seems like it's not going on overdrive. Any suggestions my friend? Yes I have the 2 speed working great, first i had it shifting too early and when i went down the straight, it took longer as it was redlinning already. But after i tightened it up abit, it shifted later with enough boost prior. Just the straightaway i'm gettin eaten up by Max's

Thanks!
Buddy
Hi

You have exactly the same problem as me! I have the FW-05 with RR engine and JPL pipe and I cant get the engine to revo out. I get blown away down the straight.

What fuel and plug are you running?

I was going to try another engine to see if it was the engine or the car is dragging at high speeds.

Let me know if you solve it

Cheers

If the Kawahara ring gears are lower than 39T, it could be possible to bring up the internal drive ratio and hence the FDR to lesser than 5.0 with the existing spurs and pinions... Then, you could even use your RR12L5 engine.

I just think that it's just such a waste to ditch the RR12L5 engine...

If you cannot get the engine to rev out, it might be the pipe. Try the Kyosho pipe. Works great for me.

Hey Buddy_C, mind me asking which track are you running? You seem to come from either in the UK or from the Asian region...

hi ziggy, it's either the pipe or the engine i would guess by now!
next time i'll dump in a max power (new or used) engine and gotta see for myself! if i get good top speed, will definitely keep the car, if not, back to mtx3!
