Default 18tz destoys bevel gears

Hi all,

last weekend i destroyed several bevel gears running my fw-05rr with a os 18tz. Initially i used the steel ones (37). It ran smooth a long time now, but yesterday the gear in front of the differential on the rear was nearly destroyed. I replaced it with the boxed alu one, but after two laps it was also destroyed. Again i replaced the gear with a boxed one, but with the same result.
A friend of mine uses the same car and also destroyed the same gear yesterday.

Any ideas why this would happen? Maybe not enough grease?
The drivetrain runs smoothly though.

Thx,
InV

Most likely a combination of not having the diff shimmed correctly with the bevel gear and the torque coming from that .18TZ. If the diff and bevel gear are too far apart you will nuke the gears in a matter of laps.

Thought that I would bring this thread back to life as I just got one of these today in a trade I did on RCU. Very nice car can't wait to get it fired up came w/ a brand new OS 18 CV-R motor and carbon upgrades. Only thing that I noticed is the gasket that connects the exhaust to the muffler has a big split in it. Anybody know where I can get a new one at?
