engine..?

Hello Glegg,

I have noticed that the OS .12 TR 5 port is discontinued on Tower Hobbies. Is there a place to purchase this engine? I know eBay is one possible solution but I prefer to purchase a new engine from a store (online or LHS). I hear OS engines are reliable. Is this engine OK for club racing (parking lot racing on rubber tires)?

Hello NiMo,

What is the price range for the Sirio Evo2 engine? I have a limited budget to get this car running. I want to buy only the essentials for now and upgrade soon.

Thanks to both of you for the advise.

Anthony

Folks, I am selling my beloved FW05RR to make room for an 1/8th car.

It is in great condition. The drivetrain is so smooth that it rolls forever on the track. MANY MANY parts are included with some still new in package.

Please take a look and let me know if you have any questions:

Thanks!

How do you use a starter box With the FW. I Was told that u have to file down the sides where the flywheel is. What is the best way to do this?

cough!! cough!! who told you that?

I still use a Mugen starter box I initially had for an MTX2.
All I do is place the car across the box.
If you are using the FW05S or T models motor mounts then yes the flywheel is to high for the box wheel to reach but using the 05R/RRR motor mount you should have no problems.
(unless you box has a huge wheel, then it wont fit most cars)

Filing the chassis would have to be your own choice, just don't make the chassis too weak.
If you can lower the motor or find a strater box with a smaller wheel that fits in to the hole of the FW05.
Info: FW05T/S/R/RR have the same size hole for the flywheel, T/S has a recess for the pull start unit.

Does anyone have the FW-05RR kit with Sirio 5 port engine included?
What do you think of the package?
I was told that those engine have good power but are not reliable and are prone to braking cranks shafts.

Too many are willing to run something down just because they prefer a different brand.
I have run a Sirio Evo2 3-port for 7 meetings plus practice days, probably about 80 tanks, I have only had to change the carb as the needles would not stay put, reliability has not been a problem and I can let it tick over for about a minute and still pull away without stalling, tank lasts 7m20s in the FW05 (5m40s in the RRR).
My only complaint is that it lacks the low end torque of a JP or a Rossi, so it has to be geared down and made to rev.

Sirio engines are the best bang for the buck. Especially the Evo3--I find it have decent low and mid range but equal or higher top end than my other motors include a Rody and a Full option JP. They do run on the hotter side--270F is not unusual but still idles normally.

What were we just saying about Sirio motors?
My crackshaft snapped today
Well at least I TQ'd 3rd with a time only 2 seconds short of my personal best set with the RRR, but a whole 4 seconds faster than my previous FW05 time.
And all I changed was the shock oil, upt it from 40wt to 70wt all round.

has anyone experienced wearing down the screws on your 05RR?

I've so far worn out 3 screws and bent 6 more on the front bumper. How come these screws are so weak?
