so which is better shaft or belt?

I seem to recall huge wars between ntc3 users and belt drive users...the belt drivers were so insistent that shaft drive has no place on a race machine....but now that "kyosho" has come up with a shaft car, people are all interested.

Could it be that some people were just baised against associated?

Shaft and belt drive cars have both advantages and disadvantages. I wont relist what has already been talked about ad nauseum. However there is no one "best" system, if there were everybody would be running that system.

I personally do not like the associated implementation of the shaft drive system for a number of reasons, again which I have stated many times.

The best part of the FW05R for me is that many of my V1RR option parts work with the car and my spare starterbox will also work with it (unlike the NTC3).

AMG you got the fw5 AND the r40 coming your way?!?!?!?

Besides the parts commonality with the vone series, what made you pick this car over the LD3/NTC3 and the MSX3?

I really know nothing about this new car, but I'm super interested in it...just cause I've been waiting for a Vone series replacement...but it seems like they are going to be extended, YET AGAIN, with the RRevo...so now this Kyosho has got my attention

From what I can see, the front suspension geometry "looks similar" to that of the RRevo.... Must be a good thing

The rear wheel will need a longer wheel shaft and dog bone.

I have a brand new V1RR Evolution and FW05R arriving this weekend.

I have had some personal experience with the MSX3 and it is a nice car. But it has C hub suspension (limiting the tunability) and the arms are weak. I never see them at my track anymore since they dont like boards.

I dont like the LD3/NTC3 implementation of the shaft drive mainly due to where the fuel tank is placed in relation to the exhaust system, and for the uncommon exhaust system. I have personally seen too many breakages and tuning problems on this car for my liking (again only my personal opion/experience). Again on our large track here NTC3 lost popularity due to perception of weakness etc.

The FW05R has similar suspension to the EVO but with longer arms. It comes with a centax in the kit, 0.8 module gears and a more conventional exhaust. It should be a nice car.

AMGRacer, what pipe will you be using for your FW-05R? Kyosho or other brand?

I will be using a RB logics pipe for the HPI RS4 3.

I heard that the carbon fiber parts are out but not the front one-way.

Is the FW05 280mm wheelbase, 220mm width, with 56mm diameter wheels like FW04?

No, it's 1/10 scale 200mm width like the V-one RR

hmm can't tell too much from the picture, but the roll bar/carry handle seems pretty low in relation to the heat sink. This will probably be a common swap for aftermarket carry handles...

The fuel tank sits right beside the pipe...I think if this car takes a hard hit the tank will rupture, much like the NTC3....

RR lola/wide bumper will probably fit in the front as well.

Anyone know if this car will offer tunability of front roll centre?

And what is the significance of these new gears people are all raving about? ...the 0.8, whats the diffence with the old gears?
