jordanC: if you are refering to DoctorJ FW05R, the engine is just a OS TR 5 port with a ZAC hetasink.

The use of the longer front springs sounds like the hot ticket since they would inherently be softer than the shorter short blacks. I'm putting the car away for the time being until I can find a 22tooth pinion. I'm just not fast enough with the car with the stock gearing and 39t ring gears.
What kind of engine are you running? I keep hearing mixed things about the gear ratio. The stock ratio is already taller than the stock v1rr...

I'm running a tired 5-port Ns12 and a modified MT-12. My friend is running a Rody. It just depends how big the track is. Everyone that I race against runs modified and 30%. You have to keep up on the back straight or else you'll just get gobbled up. It was bareable with fresh tires but when you run them down you really start to notice the disadvantage.

Just get the 22/27 pinions and the 39t ring gears.

Not according to Kyosho. Stock gears on FW-05R actually provides a taller final drive ratio than that of the V1RR evo.

another tip i wuld like to add is that the brake pins will come loose after some hard running....chk urs to see if it comes out. when it comes out it will rub against the centre bulk head....friction cause heat..it will melt the bulk head...
as to why it comes loose the only reason i culd see is that when the brakes are engaged the disk brake is slanted towards the centre bulk head...as rotational forces is not perpendicular to the pins it caused the pins out from the brake holder...1 of the remedy we did was to pull out the pins from the holder and squeeze a bit of super glue into the 2 holes n push back the 2 pins.....so far we're still doing testing on this issue....and it been quite assuring that the pins stays in place...will do more hard running to see if it holds.
