I have been racing the FW05R for few months and have not break anything on the car, if you guys browse through my earlier post, i have some tips on building the car. The 1st hop up for the car will be the UJ and steel crown gear (not available yet).

The car is pretty tough for me, but some of the guys complaint that they break the front shock stay, maybe that something you want to stock. For myself I have brought everything from arms, bulk heads, shock stay, spur gears as spares.

Also I am runnung OS TR 5 port on my FW05R and the engine is comparable with the Nova or Sirio in small to med track. If you run on bigger track the TR may not give you power and speed as those european engine, but tuning the TR is very easy.

Finally, I got the parts that I need to get my car running(the 2nd gear spur). Hopefully I'll be ready to run the car through race pace on Sunday. This car will be phenomanal with the one-way. I'm trying the one-way on the other guy at my track is going to try the LSD. We're going to compare both.

Also, regarding parts that break, I did break the front shock tower at the screw location but this was at night in 45 degree weather. Certainly, temperature was a big factor. At 45 degrees, everthing is brittle and easy to break.

I got a bigger 1st gear but the 2nd gear wasn't with my order so I'll have to work with stock gearing. If you want to see the car, I might be there Sunday for the Toys for Tots race (if it isn't raining). I'll most likely be the only person with the car. Just come over and have a look at the car. My name is Peter.

For me and the track I run at, the only hop-ups to make the car handle better are stiffer springs and a one-way. The hub I guess is the main part of the one-way which houses the one-way bearings. The shafts you are reffering to are the out drives. They fit inside the bearings and feed power from the one-way to the dogbonesa and ultimately the wheels.

Default need good engine

hi all,

now that i've got the car, i need to do some shopping for a new engine. the class i'm planning on running needs a size 12 side exhaust engine. I know JP is good but i do plan on going for the open class in future (which allows rear exhaust) so i dont want to spend that much on a side exhaust. the number of ports is 4 max including exhaust port and must be pull start. so my question to you all is:
what is a great bang for buck side exhaust 12 size engine for the FW05R?
what will be a good exhaust to compliment this engine?
cheers all, and thanks for your input!

JP used to make the modified SE Novarossi so if you can find one, that will be the best you can get. After the JP I would reccomend the RB(if that is still made). The only engine that I know is still being made that is nova based is the Novarossi engine for Adam Drake. The CV-R is a great engine though that you can get for cheap.

thanks for the input guys.
i need something that's good value and yet still relatively competitive (doesnt everyone?? hehe) as i do plan on moving into the open .12 class later and then, i'll buy myself a really great engine. but at the moment, the entry class needs side exhaust and pull start with nothing more than 4 ports and no forced induction
it's easy to find info about high end gear like Navarossi/JP etc. but it's the lower end stuff that i'm finding it hard to distinguish. i dont want to buy a pull start engine only for it to be on par with engines that comes as original equipment.
i'm sure you all are past the entry class in racing and are running with really good engines maybe i should ask the people in the FW-05S thread hahaha
