Tried overdrive with the rubbers, but you cannot come off power when cornering without the front one-way.
Tried foams with front overdrive and no one-way, 3mm difference between front and rear, comfotable push on all corners but no power on push, also braking was good as it put the brake bias to the front wheels.
Tyres were 45 front and 42 rear and the diffs are 10k 4-gear rear, 50k 2-gear front.
I found running this set up the car could not be shaken off line, I'm going to leave this set up on for the next planned meeting on the 22nd.
Slow&Steady eat my dust

Nimo, that's a really intereseting set up. I'm going to try it out in my 05R. Have you tried running only 2-gears in the back diff?

You should use all 4 in the back as this is the end that take most of the load and may strip when using only 2.
(FW05S only has 2 in front and rear)

btw, i wanna try the 2 spider gear diff thingy u have going... currently using one way on a tight and technical track which is not a good idea

what do i do?
Install the FW05 front diff but only use 1 bank of inner gears (2 gears on 1 shaft), you will need to use a thicker oil with 2 gears than you would use with 4 gears.
50K with 2 gears is similar to 30K with 4 gears.

NiMo, that's not fair. Am away and can't practise. In any case, I'll let you smoke me for a round or two just to encourage you to stay in foams and THEN you can eat my dust.

Yeap, the 22nd will be your only chance to lap me. After that you will be memorising what the rear end of the 710 looks like.

And when I get there in Oct and forget about the running clockwise, he can have a quick look at a 710 front end

Mark, sounds like a good plan. Me in front of NiMo and you behind him. By the end of the weekend, he'll start thinking of buying a 710 as well!

Hey wait ... I thought you're practising clockwise at your track now?!

Take a look at the picture attached, the cars on the pic are running anti-clockwise. Now the problematic in running clockwise, is those nice concerete 8cm high curbstones at the outside of the last part of the left-right flick. I've drawn on the approx racing line and you can see in comming out of the right-hand section, the car goes right up against the big curbstones I brushed them a couple of times before I decided to slow my laps down a bit

Ooops! I see what you mean! You'll need to set up for a lot of side bite to allow you a half decent chance to carry speed through to the other side without sliding into those walls!

I tell you though, it is pretty wild drifting it through those corners - cheeks together and hold breath and when you pull it off, it's a nice feeling

I have to ask myself - are those Winternats barriers really going to be worse than my tracks concerete curbs?
