Hmmm..tot I saw it somewhere.....???saw it was 3.07 or something...but when I work back the math it gives me something like 2.936

(51/21)x2.936=7.13
(46/26)x2.9=5.13

Thought I read it was around 2.9 as well. I thought the stock gearing was undergeared for tracks like revelation. I too am waiting for the 27 pinion. I was told that the mugen gear would work. Has anybody investigated this?

The internal gear ratio for FW05R;

40/13 = 3.07
39/13 = 3.00

There is discussion on internal ratio affect the car top speed, click the link below;

Okay, I was just concerned that changing to bigger pinions would cause tight gear mesh if I didn't change the spurs as well.

On another note, I bought the one-way but failed to recall that new outdrives are needed. Since mugen parts are redily available in my area, is it possible to use the outdrives from the MTX-3? Oh, and I have to add that the phillips head screws that are used to secure the engine mounts to the chassis absolutely BLOW. I have to figure out how to remove 2 stripped screws and find a suitable replacement. Any suggestions?

Vones: The 39T Crown steel gear should be here middle of the month, just nice for the Danga Bay race. As for the ceramic grease you can get them from Nigel or Tai Seng.

Racing4evo: Changing the pinon will not affect the clearance much, and the engine can be move a little side way.

Thanks for the internal drive ratio info Joehwee.

Anyway, I thought that the FW05 pinions and spurs are the same as the V1RR EVO? If they are indeed the same, then changing to any spur or pinion does not make any problems with regards to gear meshing because the respective diameters for 1st speed spurs and 1st speed pinions are equal. Likewise for the 2nd speed spurs and pinions. Correct me if I'm wrong...

pinions are the same, but the PCD of the spurs gears are different.....FW-05R is smaller......

Thanks for the info and correction vones. Say are all the 2nd gear spurs set on the FW05 come in the same diameter? The same for the 1st gear spurs set?

If they are, then you can always jump 3 teeth on the pinion while perhaps 5 teeth on the spurs.

Good question? I'm thinking they're not exactly the same diameter but pretty close.

Hmmm....don't quite understand what u mean...like tis....?
pinion gears: 22 (FG) with 25(SG)
spur :50 (FG) with 45 (SG)

then won't u car hve a lot of torque but no top speed?

I think if the above is wat u mean then running it, is ok...cos with 0.8 module the teeth is finer comparing it with the 1.0 gear module ....tats wat I think. Basically FW-05R is already very torquey with the stock gearing...tats y I went for the pinion 22T n 27T with spur 45T n 50T giving me reasonable pick up n top speed...still waiting for the crown gears 39T to try on FW-05 n see wats the result....glad to c exchange of ideas here as tis car is still very new to us hobby players n not much of ideas being brought forward....hve you or anyone tried the TCD gears on tis FW...?
