This car is a lot tougher than the NTC3. I have however noticed a problem with the way the top end of the shocks are mounted. It's a stupid design where they use a set screw in the shock tower then screw on the shock. I'm going to change this to the way my Mugen was with a screw and nut on the other end of the shock tower. Other than that( which is just a silly little design fault that is also on the V-one-R), this car is plenty tough enough(pending one-way installation).

Hi Zen;

I am currently running my FW05R on foam with a OS TR 5 port in a technical track and my setup are as follows;

Front Shock Position - inner hole on tower, upper hole on arm (default)
Front Shock oil - #350 with standard piston
Front Spring - Fantom Red 4517
Ride Height - 4.5mm @ 64mm dia tyres
Shore - GRP 37
Diff oil - 50K
Roll bar - Flat 180 deg
Caster - 2mm
Camber - 2deg
Toe out - 1 deg
Width - 198.5
Down Droop - 1mm

Rear Shock Position - Middle hole on tower, upper hole with short ball joint (just like the front)
Rear Shock oil - #450 with standard piston
Rear Spring - Fantom Red 1.8mm
Ride Height - 5mm @ 64mm dia tyres
Shore - GRP 37
Diff oil - 10K
Roll bar - Black
Camber - 3deg
Toe in - 2.5 deg
Width - 199
Roll Centre - Inner - upper hole, Outside upper hole
Roll centre block - L
Down droop - 6mm

Building tips
- Please take note the when building the 2nd speed, refer to my earlier post on what I have done to mine.
- The original plastic retainer for the pivot ball will have some binding, you can either replace them with delrin from Kawahara or enlarge the hole of the plastic retainer larger
- I have also change the front to UJ as the original bone will rub on the outdrive when you have too much steering.
- Make sure you fasten the fuel tank just tight enought for some slight movement to much movement will cos the brake coupler to have contact with the tank
- Remove the pin that hold the brake disk, put some permanent threadlock on the pin and put it back, this will prevent the pin from coming loose.
- Make sure that you shim the crown gear properly and apply high temp grease (I used Tamiya Ceramic Grease)

Everything was stock when I weighted the last time, now I have the Carbon Shock towers, top deck and Alum centre shaft and lighted 2nd speed holder. I have also plan to change the chassis. Hopefully I can drop the weight to below 1800

Check with JustRC, I got my engine and pipe from them. Due with the gearing issues, it is good ideal to use a fast engine. I used Max .12 and I am really happen with the kit.

Check www.justrc.com and give them a call.

If i want to get bigger pinions what corresponding spur gears would I have to get? Does anyone have a something along the lines of a chart that matches up pinions to spurs? I want to get the 22 and 27 tooth pinions, so would that mean I have to get the 50 and 45 tooth spur gears?

not necessary....maintain the spur 51/46....try pinion 22/27 first...if u find tat u still lack the top speed then go for the spur 50/45....I'm still waiting for the 39 T crown teeth....chk with ur ste up sheet..shuld tell u the gear ratio for spur n pinion...
