Are those parts available yet? I've always thought the adjustable rear swaybars were a nice idea. Don't know how much weight it will add but I would go for it.

These parts are available from Japan and Hong Kong. It looks like a kinda hokey way to mount the bar, replacing the top brake plate adjuster screw with a rod. Being able to subltley tweak the rear roll characteristics was quite useful on my EVO tho.

It is kinda pricey for what it is, looks to run around $45.

Grabbed this post from way back down there Can anybody tell me anything about this brand, I cannot seem to find anybody who knows about Haras gear except for this twister ESC.

Does anybody know anything about Ti pivotballs for the R40 other than the Hara ones?

Thats about 100g lighter than mine was bone stock. I'll have to see what it is after I have added the lightweight shafts and graphite towers.

Cause thats about all that I plan to add to mine. The weight issue really isn't that big a deal to me.

This car is already lighter than my last one, and its going to be using a much more powerful engine, so I think I'll be happy!

Let me tell you I was alway a light weight doubter early in my RC Career. After encouragement from a few people I went the lightweight drivetrain and unsprung mass route on my V1R. I tell you the difference was absolutely massive.

I shaved probably 70-100 grams (I forget exactly) out of the car, but the majority of it was from the drivetrain and the unsprung areas of the car. Got is weight right down to 1695g and saved a ton out of the drivetrain (Lightweight clutchbell, removed the pressure plate from the centax and way lightened flywheel). The thing was like a bullet out of the corners.

It probably only translated to a .2 second a lap increase, but the car felt much much better.

fastharry:

a little bit of insight on your options and what you did to your R40 is in order .

amg:

how'd you lighten the flywheel and also dont you need that pressure plate in the centax clutches?

Fastharry has a small plutonium powered reactor that powers his car, which is much lighter than a .12 engine.

I'm not doubting that lightening up the car would definitely help performance. Especially the unsprung weight(which I don't thing the R40 has a whole lot of).

What I'm doubting is my ability to notice the difference between 1800g and 1765!

Besides, another thing that worries me about adding a lot of hop ups to any car is that...I don't keep cars for long...

I'll eventually get bored with a car and sell it for no other reason than to try something different.

And lets face it, those hop ups garner almost zero value when your selling used cars.

example: have you ever seen someone trying to sell one of those micro's or F201's that they dumped $300-$400 into with all the hop ups??? How much do they get? About $150-$175 if they're lucky!

Thats why I pick my hop ups carefully, I have to be sure about what I'm buying, cause I know I'll be selling it someday!
