"Hook up" means get better traction. Actualy, a flexable chassis gives you more consistant handling on a bumpy surface. Too much slang in my last post.

I am going to purchase an r40 and probably your help with this car will be very helpfull....

Probably some were within this 380 pages there is already something about choice of engine etc..... When i looked to the body of atsushi i noticed the stickers of Orion then on the side there was WASP. do you think that atsuhsi used to drive with a wasp??

and what do you think about the R40?? general comments??

The R40 is a good car, but its getting a bit older. If you can get good local parts supply and there are others in your area running it then it might be worth it. Just make sure that you get the 2005 Hara version with all the latest hop ups. Choice of engine will depend on the type of track you plan to run on, your skill level, and how much you have to spend.

Alrighty! I just ordered the servo mounts from Buy HPI. Man there new site design sucks. The R40 hara isn't even listed as a kit they have parts for. You have to put the part number into the search to even get to the part you want. Sheesh!! I had to email them and ask them how to order the part since nobody carries it. $10 for shipping and I only live 20 miles from HPI!

Okay, I'm done ranting now. Went out last night to make the part myself and couldn't find my aluminum stock that I thought I had. So I decided just to buy it however I could and emailed HPI. At least they answered quickly. I'll post pictures of my cars and all the new parts that I have collected in the past few months.

Wow!!! Slap forehead with palm!! I remember now. Guess I just had a senior moment. I just figured I'd be able to look up parts for the R40 on HPI's site by picking the kit and browsing. Silly me.

At the risk of sounding like AI, get an OS .12 TZ with a Skyline VR12 Plus pipe. The engine is the best bang for your buck choice and the pipe is nicely matched to it.

I really like my r40, and it has no problems keeping up with (beating) the mtx-4s at my club, but it did required a bit of experimentation to get it to handle right, and even then I use a strange combination of hard rear/soft front tyres (most of the mugen guys run softer rears at the club). So far parts have been pretty easy to come by, but there isn't the vast array of hop ups available from alternate suppliers like there is with the mugens. Also the R40 is marginally harder to work on than some of the newer designs, particuarly gaining access to the diffs.

Actually get the JLR red dot .12 , its cheaper and faster. Same pipe though.
